The resort was huge, but it was beautiful. We stayed at Maya Suites. The Suite was beautiful and clean. The grounds appeared meticulously maintained and were clean. There was beautiful wildlife at the resort. Also great oppurtinities for kids and family entertainment. The beach was also beautiful and well maintained The buffet food options were phenomenal. They also had great lunch places and hamburgers at the beach. I especially liked the Maya star cafe for coffee in the morning. The coffee was great. The bars including the big Maya bar were outstanding. My only complaint is that the restaurants are highly overrated. We had a subpar experience at La Merina Seafood restaurant. The food was essentially available at the buffet and they dont offer any selection of wines or drinks that you would expect given how much they talk up their restaurants. The servers dont seem to understand things. Same thing. at the Japanese Tepyanki restaurant. It was like a subpar Benihana...the restaurants are not really "high end" at all and just ok. In our experience the buffets were preferrable to the restaurants and the service was better. The restaurants are not worth the time.

The cuisine was passable. We made use of the buffet. A la carte and reservations were required at other restaurants. The elevator was so tiny that my wife and I could hardly fit in with our strollers and kids. Water leaking from the shower. The refrigerator did not function. Nobody shown how to go around. Insufficient signs with detections. You're going to walk a lot. The distance to the beach was 1/2 mile. The water slides at the hotel I reserved for the kids' enjoyment were all broken. That's the only reason I went there. Pools were not very practical for small children. Never going back here again. Feel bad i spent so much money

We loved our stay at Iberostar. The food was excellent and the staff was super friendly and helpful. The only thing I would say was the kids pool area was closed down for a few days and the AC wasn’t great. My niece got sick after the first night so we think it was the air coming from the ac. Other than that it’s a great resort for families

The physical property itself is nice. Flamingos , peacocks, and coati’s are amongst the property. There are many pools to choose from. My BIGGEST issue and concern is the sanitary means of the food being prepared. The cooks do not wear gloves , they flip pancakes and french toast with their bare hands, they touch various products while cooking, wipe face while cooking and touching the food. I’ve witnessed a cook coughing directly on the food while cooking without a mask or covering his mouth. The bartenders wore gloves which was odd considering that they do not touch anything directly. All food places are with bare hands from the cookies to the meat. Sandwiches are made and ripped in half by bare hands. Some waiters would grab a piece of food and eat while walking past the buffet and take your order. They ask about allergies yet there’s cross contamination as they are touching all items. Food is a major consideration for any vacation and the fact that I barely ate but paid close to 10k for our family is ridiculous. I’ve complained while there and nothing was done but an email once I got home stating that they would investigate. Pretty convenient now that I am home. The exterminator came to my room and brother’s room twice due to ants.

This is 5 star property with 1-star amenities and service. Food is 2-star, just stomach filling food. Not worth any upgrade in Room. I got a beach side Room ( 2step upgrade), got only trees in the back yard. It’s not worth staying in Maya vs Linda, just room size - nothing Else. Prepared to walk for Miles, Golf cart service is there but not easily accessible. Prepared to get up early morning by 7 am to get a pool side chair or beach chair. Everything is less relative to number of guests staying. Room itself is 2 star . I have. Stayed in better 3- star resorts. For less than half this price. If you plan to stay here , choose the least price available. More money not equals more enjoyment. Just like other reviews , people walking around to sell you something , especially star club.

My son was attacked by a wild Coati while walking back to the hotel from the beach. There were no signs until after the incident. We had to spend a day in a Cancun ER to start his rabies vax. Hotel did nothing to accommodate us. Ended up costing me over a thousand US dollars. There should be signs posted through out the resort telling you not to walk with food in your hand. These Coatis are everywhere. You will see hundreds of them. Especially in the mangrove are between beach and hotel. They may be cute but they aren't scared of you. I’ve stayed at Iberostar resorts before and I’m surprised about this one’s lack of sympathy after my kid was hurt. My wife and I almost bought into the Iberostar program, glad we didn’t. They could have easily made this right but decided to ignore us.

I liked that there was plenty to do for everyone. Between the beach, pools, free beverage bars, water slides for the kids and comfortable chairs....we were very comfortable. Buffets were good, fresh looking and plentiful. We found that the individual dining rooms were not the best. The El Musiua (sp?) food was great but the waiters rushed us through. Rushing courses and taking food away before we had even tried some of it. We had to ask them to stop and leave the food. But thinking they were in a hurry due to another group of people coming....we ate quickly only to find out that there wasn't a second group coming. The Mexican dining hall....food was not good. We went back to the salad bar. The. mediterrain food was ok and staff was good. The meat dining hall (forgot the name)...portions were small, tough and wrong cuts of meat. Consequently we went back to the buffets but they were a bit noisy and hard to carry on a conversation. Staff was great at the buffets.

Great resort and facilities! The restaurants were all great too. There are lots of walking since the resort is huge so be prepared with good walking shoes or you have to wait for them to pick you up at certain stations and drop you off.

Terrible stay. Activities and Entertainment are nonexistent. Absolutely the most boring resort we have ever stayed in. The staff is hit or miss, some very friendly others completely and utterly rude. Food is not readily available. It’s absurd that a reservation needs to be made if eating at any restaurant in the hotel. Only the buffet and the cafe serves without reservations. It's also completely ridiculous that we didn’t get to eat a the restaurants that we wanted because they didn’t have space available. We attempted to make reservations since the moment we got there and they weren’t able to accommodate us our entire stay. Technically our “all inclusive” only included a buffet, cafe, and a nasty snack bar by the beach. If anyone insists on staying at this terrible hotel, do yourself a favor and get the Mar option, don’t waste your money like we did on the Maya option. This hotel has so much potential, it in deed is a very nice hotel. However it doesn’t matter if we can’t eat when and where we want. It’s also not worth it because the staff is untrained and has no idea what’s going on anywhere. They all give conflicting information about what he hotel. I do NOT recommend this place. It’s not worth it. Find somewhere else to stay and spend your hard earned money.

In addition we have a variety of fantastic shows available for the whole family, these can be enjoyed at the theater and at the beach for our Fire show. All this information and schedules is available in our Iberostar app.Also, we regret you had some difficulties with your dinner reservations, however, allow us to explain that our restaurants operate under a system of different seating times planned to create a personalized and fine dining experience. Check in was terrible. Too long. Stayed in this hotel three times. I had VIP benefits that was never offered to me. On top of it the guy at the concierge desk (main Maya lobby) Miguel was horrible. I went to book the restaurants and he told me “It’s not my job to do it. My job is sell you timeshare” Also, he said he can’t book more than two days ahead…it was lies. I came for a week before and had no issues booking restaurants for each of the day of my stay. This was total Welcome disappointment. Now, let’s talk good…The concierge in my building Andrea was AMAZING! So nice and helpful!! Thank you Andrea!!! HALLOWEEN BUFFET was phenomenal!!! I mean WOW! What a hard and amazing work stuff and cooks did. I never seen more beautiful and delicious buffet and I’m very well traveled to five stars resorts. Everyone was taking pictures and videos of it. Property grounds was great as always. Tropical paradise with tons of animals and gardens. Still one of my favorite resorts in Playa together with their Grand hotel.

Beautiful property with some great features, but plenty of opportunities to improve the experience. Rooms were great, staff were very helpful most of the time, evening dining options are very good. Pool area and entertainment for kids and adults is very good. Adult drink selection was good. Not so good: Complex is huge, perhaps a little too big,.10 minutes walk from reception to beach. Transportation around the complex was limited at times, found ourselves waiting 10 minutes for a golf cart to transport us, sometimes not available at all, even had transportation refused once or twice " not going that way" which is OK, but at least call in for a ride to come. Breakfast choice, evening meals and room service are good, but day time snacking is pretty much limited to the burger bar on the beach or pizza from one of the restaurants. You can't order snacks from the wait staff or take out from the restaurants when you are relaxing at the pool, not even chips and french fries. Beach bar ran out of french fries and icecream frequently. Wait service at the beach ranged from missing, to good, depending on the day. One single towel station for the entire complex, with book out and book in required. Attempts to push a timeshare on you, to be expected in a global hotelier, and not overly pushy. Overall it was good, but there are much better options available around the same price point in Playa or Cancun. We most likely would not return and would not rate in our top 5 resorts.

We had a great time and the staff and restaurants were fantastic. The pools needs to be tended too throughout yeh day. By mid day they were extremely dirty, bugs, fruit from drinks, and gross stuff floating in them. The room was spacious, up to date and clean, the beach was beautiful and the grounds of the resort were lackluster.

we arrived and it took more than an hour and a half to complete the check in, they didn’t bring anything to drink or welcome us. Took us to our upgraded room, the only upgrade is that is a bit closer to the beach, the room AC worked terrible and the rooms were humid and sticky all through the stay. For dinners: there are places that are good like the French and some ok like Italian and Greek. The fine dining was terrible terrible. The lobster was raw. Lunch: well so let’s say that service is terrible generally and that includes how inconvenient it is to eat. If you are planning to relax all day at the beach and not move, then be prepared to eat some cold burgers or chicken wraps. They serve French fries, but those are limited to the first 10 people that arrive to order them. Once they are gone, they don’t refill them. If you want to go eat somewhere else, first you need to get dressed and dry and get ready to walk for at least 45 min to go and return to the beach. The transportation is terrible. The hotel excuses themselves saying that’s a subcontracted service, however I could not care less. I payed the hotel to provide an awesome experience, so if something doesn’t work they need to fix it. So for example: if you are in the mall and want to go to your room, you will need to wait 10 min to get your first cart that will take you to the lobby of your hotel and from there another 10-20 min for a cart to take you to your room.

The property was a bit outdated but ok overall. The problem was number one we requested a king bed but due to overbooking we wound up with two double beds. The food was less than average and not a lot of variety. The entertainment was great for kids but horrible for adults. We had no children with us so that wasn’t ideal. Pools closed early supposedly for cleaning and weren’t clean in spite of it. And finally after heavy rains the floors weren’t attended to resulting in two members of our party falling on the hard marble. The spa was nice but nobody assisted us in our hydro therapy. The lazy River and wave pool were hardly ever on. The maid was excellent!

Great hotel. I did not know it was so big, long walks but they have golf cart services which were fun that take you from lobby to your room. Beach was amazing. They had refillable glass bottles instead of water bottles in the room. I’m a picky eater so I did not like much of the food compared to other resorts. But I managed to survive lol.
