Great location!

Loved where the hotel was located. It was only a brief walk away from Old Town. The hallways smelled a bit smoky but the room did not at all. Breakfast buffet was the best we had on our two week trip!

Pros: Room size, and food was excellent. Breakfast is way over priced.
Location: Located in deterating neighborhood.
Nice hotel. Bit pricey for Heidelberg. Major concerns are the security from groups of Muslim men sitting outside front entry from early am and staying there all day and evenings smoking and looking at the women and comments. A group holding a business meeting spoke concerns of the men to me in the lobby, and I escorted the 2 women to a Taxi. They identified the men as unemployed Muslims that are poorly dressed and repulsive

Perfect location!

Pros: Did I mention the heated swimming pool and spa in the downstairs level?
Cons: If I could return more often...
Location: Shopping, Old Town, University of Heidelberg and Bibliotecca, restaurants, and of course, the Castle.
Walking distance to the Hauptstrasse with all the shopping, restaurants, University, and City Centre that make Heidelberg such a special place! Walking distance to the Castle (for a great workout!) and beautiful views of the city. Hotel Staff? They were ALL helpful and professional...couldn't have had a better experience!

Great location. Easy walk to the Haupstrasse

Pros: Staff was excellent and very helpful
Cons: Give frequent stay points even when room is booked through Expedia
Location: Short walk to public transportation and the main tourist area in Heidelberg
Easy to get on the highway A little difficult to find when we first came into town

Overpriced.

We thought with the price and location it would be more of a room than it was for a four star hotel. The bed was comfortable, and you can walk into the old city and to the philosophers way, but both are a hike to get to, so don't be fooled thinking you are very close to the centre. Internet was not included. Breakfast was not included.

We've stayed in Heidelberg before but this hotel is so close to the old town for a one night stopover we will certainly be back. Quality hotel and good breakfast. Staff friendly and efficient.

Ok but not up to expectation

Posted 21-Apr-2014
The hotel lobby and restaurant area are in top notch shape and very pleasing. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The girl who checked us in even gave me a tip to only pay to park in the garage one night and then park on the street the second to save a little money. The room was clean; however the floor outside the room smelled like smoke even though the it was a non smoking floor. The towels were old and rough and the bed was as hard as a rock. We did not sleep very well. The pool area is nice; however, conservative families should be aware of the nude sauna area. Not a big deal for us but just not something we expected. On our second night our daughter was playing with another girl in the pool area and the pool attendant told us that the girls needed to keep it down because children pool hours actually ended at 7:00. We were at the pool the evening before and the girl never mentioned this to us and there is absolutely no signs or information regarding children pool hours. I honestly think he made it up. Overall I would rate this Crown Plaza a 3 out of 5.

Ideally situated for exploring Heidleburg

Posted 15-Apr-2014
Pros: good location, friendly staff
Cons: being very British- the sauna! It is "Finnish" meaning no swimming costumes
Location: explore the cafes and bars in the pedestrianised area of the old town which is only a few minutes walk away. Stroll by the river.
We had a short break of 3 nights here. The hotel is well located for exploring the old town and the shuttle bus from the airport drops you right outside the hotel. We had a room overlooking the courtyard which meant that despite the central location it was very quiet. There is also a swimming pool to help relax the muscles after exploring the longest pedestrianised street in Europe as well as climbing up to the Schloss. There is also a fitness suite to help work off the ice creams-there are so many ice cream shops to try as well as bars and cafes. The staff were very friendly.
