This new Panjim hotel is probably the best place to stay in the Latin Quarter. The management is extremely helpful. We wanted a half-day trip to see the World Heritage churches in Old Goa and the northern beaches, and the managing director got us a taxi and briefed the driver on the itinerary, including an excellent recommendation for lunch on the beach, and arranged a reasonable price. When we asked about locations for photo shoots, the recommendations were spot on, and when we needed transport to remote locations at 6:30 a.m., the managing director made the arrangements with a taxi. The choice of breakfasts, included in the price, are fine, and can include eggs with Goan sausage, and granola with yogurt and tropical fruits. I would definitely stay here again.
Very unimpressive entrance into to hotel but when elevator doors opened at the first floor it revealed the hotel in all its splendour. Few signs of age in rooms but overall great value. Very friendly staff & manager who mingled with guests.
My wife and I had high expectations of this hotel, it was the most expensive we stayed in during our 5weeks in India. We were sorely disappointed! The location smells badly of sewage, to a highly unpleasant level. The hotel charges and seems to think itself at the top level, but try getting some more coffee sachets for your room. The restaurant is overpriced, service indifferent and food poor. Panjim itself is much the same, just somewhere to stop on the way to the sea.
Less than 300m from Bus Stand, less than 400 from Panaji's good restaurants, who could ask for a more practical place to stay? It's clean and comfy. Breakfast is good (Western and Indian-style). Good staff.
There's a distinctly European atmosphere in the state capital of Goa, a remnant from when Portugal ruled the area. Portuguese architecture abounds, with red-tiled roofs and balconied buildings, and the hustle and bustle of Indian cities gives way to a more laid-back atmosphere. The Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is a popular attraction, along with the area's famed beaches.
