Don't judge a book by its cover!

My family were exhibiting at a food festival in South Park. The location was the most important. I had not stayed in this type of accommodation before (inn/bb) the welcome was lovely and helpful, the beds were clean and comfortable the breakfast cooked to order! The bonus of this hotel is secure parking in the centre of Oxford!

Great location, great staff

Posted 29-Aug-2014
Pros: Great location, super easy and close to Oxford center, also very easy to catch a bus to and from the train station.
Location: It's 2 minutes from the Botanical Gardens and a place to rent punts. 10 minutes or so to the Bodliean and the city center.
I was worried about noise when I saw that the downstairs pub, but it was very quiet. The staff was super nice and accommodating. I would stay there again in a heart beat!

comments for Hotel for purpose of stay in Oxford

Posted 06-Aug-2014
Pros: there was a good car park which was flexible.
Cons: Staff were reasonably friendly but accomodation was very basic and I did not think came up to standard
Location: the Hotel was central to the town which was convenient
i would say the hotel was only 'adequate' and I would not stay there again

Run down hotel in built up noisy area

Posted 21-Jul-2014
Most expensive poor quality hotel I have ever stayed. Expected a nice, quaint 17th Century Coaching House, ended up in hotel not fit to be used as a Stable !! Booked in for 2 nights, checked out after 1. Manager / Owner couldn't have cared less. Take my advice, avoid at all costs !

Fine but nothing special

Posted 17-Jul-2014
This place is a mixed bag. Location is great - minutes walk from other pubs, cafes and restaurants. I went to a Thai restaurant nearby that was fantastic. The building itself is lovely - a very old one complete with original beams, low ceiling etc. The staff were pleasant and helpful. My room was fine - a few things missing like the sink plug but overall it was decorated to a high standard. The bed was comfy. The hallway to the rooms is in need of redecoration, and there was lots of paint pots and building materials left in random corners. To me that didn't matter much, but it doesn't give a great impression. Wifi was strong in my room and this was provided free of charge. The cooked breakfast wasn't very nice - sausages and bacon cooked rare and the whole thing was a little tasteless. Like other reviews have said, it's in a slightly noisy location next to a busy road - fine for me as I can sleep through anything, but others may want to take that into consideration. The pub downstairs seemed OK - a number of regulars were in there. Overall I thought it was OK for a night's stay but the main reason for 3 stars is that I felt it was overpriced - for £125 I would just expect a better overall standard.

Great Location But Noisy

Posted 06-Jul-2014 on Hotels.com
We loved it! The people were great. The location was excellent. The only issue was the heat. It was 82 degrees in our room. We could deal with the lack of A.C., but the radiators were hot. We had the windows open, but that was incredibly loud. They did give us two fans which helped us make it through the nights. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Great for access to colleges

Went to stay for college open days and was perfect. We arrived late from a long drive from Newcastle upon Tyne and key was left for us. Great having a parking place and being able to walk to colleges. Would stay here again

Very friendly staff. Breakfast was good. Location is perfect if you have a car because there is parking at the hotel and you can easily walk into the center of town.

Cute and charming but very noisy due to old windows.Good value for money but be sure to bring earplugs (also breakfast only from 7:30 to 8:30 which is a bit annoying)
