Stayed in a double room, which was dominated by the beds. To get to the windows and radiator you had to navigate around the beds, which made the room seem a bit cramped. Rest of room absolutely fine. No minibar but snack items for purchase in reception. Bathroom OK, minimalist, products in dispensers, shower cabinet a bit small. Flat screen TV. Beds very narrow (70cm), and a bit too soft for my liking. Interiors tacky (mirrors in the ceiling in reception....). My room seem to have been refurbished some time in the early 90s. Staff very helpful and pleasant to deal with! Location good, right by the small mall and high street. Overall, somewhat dated but rooms not bad and very clean. If you can get a good rate, it's not a bad alternative but I would rather stay in one of the newer hotels in town.
This hotel was great...from the correspondence before our trip...to the greetings we had at 12.30am...to the waffles we made each afternoon!!
Room was modern, clean and comfortable. Provided a minibar and hairdryer too. Fab shower!!
Breakfast had a great selection which was constantly stocked up. The rooms you eat in are whaling themed...so i made sure we sat in a different one each time.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend to friends...particularly those who want to include Sandefjord as part of a bigger trip to Norway.

Apparently, this hotel was completely renovated in 2000; however, it seems as if the hotel has been stuck in the 1970s. Everything from the broken mini-fridge with fake wood paneling to the crappy little TVs with ten channels, two of which were softcore porn, really added to a pleasurable hotel experience. The room design was ill-conceived at best. The beds barely fit two people. The hallways also exuded a strange odor usually associated with tenements from the 70s. The staff didn't know where Fredrikstad was. I would expect all of the aforementioned flaws from a New Jersey motel; however, we paid four star hotel prices for this glorified dump. I suppose if your idea of a pleasurable stay in a hotel is watching porn in a cramped bed and drinking warm beer from the broken mini-fridge, then the Rica Saga Hotel is for you. For virtually everyone else, this hotel ought to be avoided.
