“A Funky Oasis of Calm in a Beautiful Chaotic City”

The Hotel lies inconspicuously across from the Piazza Belini whose cafes attract a bohemian crowd. Set around a tranquil courtyard the hotel comes as a welcome break from the pulsating city and the network of streets that lead up to it from the central area. This is a well positioned, clean and relaxed hotel with funky rooms and the continental breakfast (included in the price) is plentiful and fresh. Potentially one iof the best quality and value for money hotel options in the city and I have no hesitation in recommending that you use this hotel. ENJOY.

“Boutique hotel in great location”

Chose this hotel because it was well priced and close to the old quarter. It exceeded our expectations - a funky, functional, comfortable hotel in a lovely old building with great ambience and helpful staff. We were very happy with our stay at Piazza Bellini and highly recommend it.

“Comfortable Boutique Hotel in Napoli”

Hotel Piazza Bellini is a very modern, clean hotel in the university area of Naples. It is fairly easy to reach via bus service from the ferry landings and is very convenient to the metro and Naples Centrale train station. The front desk personnel were very courteous, helpful and spoke flawless English. We LOVED the pizzeria they recommended. The surrounding neighborhood is very interesting with bookstores and beautiful old buildings. The hotel is also very close to the National Archeological Museum. As a woman, I did not feel particularly safe going exploring in the neighborhood at night but I don't feel particularly safe doing that in any large city I do not know. Daytime, I felt perfectly safe. Our room was very well maintained, clean and welcoming. The only downside was street noise until about midnight. Again, this hotel is near the university so you have young people out on the street. This is not the hotel's fault and I was still able to get a good night's sleep. I would not hesitate to stay at Hotel Piazza Bellini again.

“Can't fault it.”

This ultra-quiet ultra-modern hotel built inside a 19th. century mansion is everything any Naples lover could wish. Best location, great rates (unbelievable by London standards), superb courtyard to sip the modestly price wine with monster munchies. If you don't like 19th. century Italian statuary, giant arches and great modestly-price restaurants just around the corner, you won't like this courtyard. Downside - 500 tv channels all in Italian. Upside - the a/c works a treat. If you don't like shabby shabby chic you won't like Naples - but this hotel will help to change your view.

“Great hotel in the best area of old naples.”

We loved our stay at Hotel Piazza Bellini. Our room wasn't flash (but there are others there which were even better) but a good size, spotlessly clean, new linen and very well set up, likewise the bathroom. Breakfast were great, cereals, breads, cheeses & cold meats, plus fruit, yoghurt etc. Staff very helpful & friendly. It was quiet, no street noise. The best thing was the location - the Piazza Bellini is a great spot to hang out night or day, some great cafes and lovely food, plus easily walkable to all the sights, with the archeological museum & tube station being just at the top of the road. Don't believe everything you hear about Naples - it's a great city to visit & if we came back we'd definitely stay here again.

“Great quirky hotel”

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and were able to assist us with everything we needed. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the location ideal for us as everything was within easy reach - about a 15-20 minute walk to the main tourist centre, port and train station.

When to go
We went in August which is obviously the height of summer. There were days when it was extremely hot but not completely unbearable so it depends on personal taste. There were some days when large numbers of cruise boats docked in Naples making everything very busy because of the huge influx of people in the town. We were prepared for this but some people were not - if you do have to travel in peak season then be aware that it will be busy!!
Getting around
We did everything by foot, train and by bus. The sightseeing buses are quite useful and you can easily get a good feel of where everything is situated if you do one of these early on in your trip. Public transport is a little chaotic in Naples - the trains are extremely good, reliable and clean. Buses were a little more difficult to navigate - there is a lack of timetabling at a lot of the bus stops and the routes aren't always clear however this may have been due to some building work outside the central train station at the time of our visit which seemed to be causing some disruption. Naples itself is very easy to navigate by foot but do make sure you have a detailed map!!
Must see
Pompeii and Herculaneum are definitely the must sees when in Naples. There are lots of tours that will take you to these but to be honest I'm not sure you need to rely on these. We took the train from Naples central station and both stops are on the same line so finding them was easy and the train is very regular and cheap!! Although not usually an advocate of audio guides - these were definitely the best investment we made. You can get a guide at both sites but they tend to be more expensive and you don't have the opportunity to meander round at your own pace. There are queues to get into the sites but in generaly we didn't wait much more than 10-15 minutes. The sites do get very warm so make sure you take plenty of water and a good pair of walking shoes!! (The cobbled streets can be quite slippery and steep in places and we watched several people struggling in flip flops!!) The other must see is the Archealogical Museum in Naples. We actually went here before going to Pompeii etc. There are many amazing pieces taken from both sites that are preserved here and this is definitely not one to be missed if you are into your history!!
Outdoors or beach
A trip to the island of Capri is well worth a day out. Lots of people go for the beach which was very busy when we were there. We took a ferry from the port - these are regular and relatively inexpensive. On the island we enjoyed a boat trip all the way round, a trip on the funicular railway and a spot of lunch in one of the relaxing see front cafes. Capri is a lovely relaxing break way from the slightly more hectic nature of Naples and worth it if you have the time.

“Coolest hotel in Naples”

A real gem in an otherwise ordinary and intense city. Staff are always polite and helpful. Rooms are really comfy and functional. Hotel is well laid out.

Getting around
Taxis don't always use the meter in Naples and customers are open to rip-offs. Ask for rough cost of ride before getting into taxi or ask hotel staff for advice.

“okay for the money”

This hotel was in a very rundown area. The hotel itself has been upgraded.Air conditioning was nonexistent.Breakfast was cold items only.Tv received only one English speaking channel and that was Bloomberg.we needed a taxi to the port to catch a ferry to Palermo.Hotel promised prefixed rate of 10.5 euros. When we got to the port the taxi driver demanded 15 euros.

Area recommendations
I would recommend skipping Naples entirely.
