Good Hotel for closeness to Heathrow airport.

Posted 16-Nov-2014
Pros: The lobby, bar and restaurant area have been renovated and look good.
Cons: Get rid of the standard rooms as soon as a possible.
Location: N/A
We booked a standard room as we were only staying for the one night before an early flight. The room was poor but to be fair they are renovating the hotel and the lobby and restaurant area is a vast improvement. You have to pay extra for an updated room and hopefully they are a great improvement on the old ones. For a few hours a standard room is ok. Renovation should have commenced years ago.You have to pay for the Internet which should in this day and age be free throughout. Other hotels that are less expensive do it so why not the Rennaissance.

Nice hotel close to airport.

Posted 16-Nov-2014
Pros: Location was perfect
Location: Airport is close and the free bus meant I could get to airport and then the train from there to London Town and local shops in Hounslow and Uxbridge.
Fabulous, the staff are very helpful, particularly the concierge. Free bus to and from international airport is just two minute walk from the hotel. I found it perfect for a few nights stay.

Close to terminals and soundproofed so slept well

Posted 12-Nov-2014
Pros: Proximity to terminals and good standard of rooms
Cons: Fridge in room would be helpful
Car parking on site for overnight stay at reasonable rate for 24 hours. Late check out meant I was able to accompany travellers to terminal to see them off and still get back and use the room. Hoppa calls at Entrance and was punctual. Staff were friendly and helpful. Comfortable beds and excellent soundproofing meant a good nights sleep.

Noisy rooms

Posted 10-Nov-2014
There was a corporate convention on at the time I stayed, lots of young men drinking and shouting in the corridors and rooms until 5 am. Despite complaints the the concierge no avtion was taken.

Pros: absolutely nothing
This was the final hotel we stayed in after a two week holiday throughout the U.K. Right from check in to check out this hotel was a disappointment for the cost / night. The staff at check in were busy chatting with each other. We needed a converter to charge our cell phones. This was the only hotel that charged us a deposit for a USB plug. The cost to buy one new - £3. The deposit charged to us to use one for 12 hours? £15! This was the only hotel that automatically added gratuity to our pub & dinner bill. This is always a bone of contention for me. Let me decide whether my server earned a tip for bringing me a cup of coffee. We ate a 'sad' dinner in the pub. My fish was so greasy it was inedible. Clearly it was not good and yet there was no offer to remove the cost from our dinner bill. AAAANND yet again I was automatically charged gratuity on my dinner bill. The 'free' WIFI was intermittent. There was however, an option to pay more money to upgrade to a reliable connection. The elevators were sketchy, one wasn't working at all. The carpets in the hallway were taped down with duct tape, and it just goes on and on. Came down in the morning looking for a cup of coffee... nothing available except £3 cup at the Starbucks in the lobby. The line up was out the door... No free shuttle to the airport and breakfast not included. Truly a disappointment.

Pros: nothing.
This hotel was the last hotel we stayed in after a two week tour of the UK. By far this hotel was the biggest disappointment. The staff were rude. Even at check-in they just seemed like it was a bother to help us out. When we asked for a converter to charge our cell phone, they provided us with one but added an additional 15 pounds to the bill. This was the only hotel in 16 nights that charged us for this. The restaurant was the ONLY restaurant in all of England, Wales & Ireland that automatically forced us to tip our server. The food in the pub was awful. My fish and chips were so greasy they were inedible. No offer to take it off the bill even though it was clear it was not good. Two others ordered the special, which included a free Korean beer. We were pretty clear that we did not want the beer and would not drink it. When we got the bill, we were charged for the food and then charged for the two additional beers. The elevators were sketchy at best. One out of service. No free shuttle to the airport. Overall such a disappointment. Even the price for one night was too much. $149 CDN!!!! Way too much for what we got.

The hotel is very old. It was not as what it shown as in expedia. Considering the condition of the hotel, the price is too expensive. Hotel staff is friendly and checkin procedure is fast, but when I got into the room, it was a total disappointment.

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at the Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel with us. I am very sorry our current appearance was not what you had anticipated. We strive to maintain the highest standards, not only in service, but also with regards to maintaining the overall look and feel of the hotel. Unfortunately, this sometimes requires essential renovations in our guest areas. As you know the hotel is going under massive renovation, we have proudly managed to renovate our Reception, Lobby, Restaurant, Bar and fair share of our rooms as well yet to continue till we finish the entire hotel as well as the outside .We are hoping to celebrate our success with you very soon during your next stay with us. Although we fell short of meeting your expectations during your past stay, I hope you will consider Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel on your next visit to London so that we can better deliver upon the guest experience you deserve.

Really enjoyed my stay here

Posted 06-Nov-2014
Pros: Food, service, room set up
Cons: Still old school TV. LCD would be nice although I don't watch a lot of hotel TV
Location: Went to the local pub, Three Magies about 200 metres up the road. Really enjoyed that too - nice big old oak beams and gave a nice cosy pub atmosphere
I had a great time. I was here 1 night travelling New Zealand and Sweden and again 7 days later travelling Germany back to New Zealand I liked the feel of the place - the soundproofing definitely works. And I had the best coffee here at breakfast in my whole trip. That included Germany. Will definitely stay here again

Quick Heathrow access

Close to airport terminals. Well maintained and relatively quiet. A great overnight spot for easy next day connections.
