Great staff, horrible hotel

Posted 15-Feb-2015
Pros: ONLY thing - the STAFF, mainly tye reception and the restaurant staff...
Location: Convenient location due to its proximity to Heathrow and easy access to the subway...
Hotel is in a very convenient location, and the staff was great, all of them! However the hotel itself is in need of a serious renovation...the so called "club floor" had the carpet held by duct tape - throughout the entire floor...???? Room - horrible... Furniture from the 70's and a TV from 1955 ... Heating and cooling of the room is a hit or miss, you don't know what will come out of the vents...Really horrendous considering how much you pay per night... ELevators are not sure if they are going up or down...list could go on for days...ONLY saving grace of this "Bates Motel" was its staff which were great... Will never go back or recommend unless some serious renovation is done... Photos are deceiving and they should tell guests the hotel is "supposedly" under renovation...

Stay at the Renaissance Hotel.

Posted 27-Jan-2015
When I arrived at the Renaissance Hotel, I was met by very polite and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean and spacious, which was handy. As a plane spotter, I requested a room which was facing the runway at Heathrow Airport. It was surprise treat for my girlfriend because it was a special birthday on the day if arrival. She is a fellow plane spotter !!!!!!!!!!!! The room was upgraded as a treat for my girlfriend. There was some restoration work being done. The noise was minimal.

against the odds

Posted 22-Jan-2015
when we approached the hotel, clinched the door Handel tight hoping that the building I was looking at was not my hotel, instantly i braced and was like ok it's just the outside. The foyer and entrance was amazing my room was perfect but in all honesty it will be a very amazing hotel once the renovation is completed epically on the outside.

Antiquated Maze

Posted 22-Jan-2015
Pros: The staff was friendly.
Cons: Modernize the rooms with better climate control; fix the signs directing people to their room numbers; Add another bank of elevators
Location: Close to Heathrow and there is a free bus.
Firstly, this plaze is a huge maze. My room number was 2178. I literally had a 3-mibnute walk from the elevators to my room and since the signs directing you to the room numbers are all confused you end up walking down a lot of dead end hallways looking for your room. Once I finally located my room the electronic key took 10-15 tries before it worked. I had heard people complaining about this down at the front desk so I knew I had to keep trying and eventually the door responded. It was like this the entire stay despite attempts at new key replacements. The problem is obviously with the locking system and not the cards. The room was extremely dated like the rest of the hotel and when I first got into my room someone had left the heat turned all the way up so it was sweltering in there and since you cannot open the windows, it took hours to cool down even though I turned the ancient thermostat to the cool setting. It was freezing outside but since you couldn't open the windows, a lot of good that did. This hotel is about a 5-minute bus ride from Heathrow and when I asked the cleark where to get the bus back to the airport they tried to sell me a bus pass for 5 pounds 90 when I knew perfectly well that there was a free bus. After I pointed this out they told me where to catch it. You don't have to pay the ridiculous fee to ride the bus. for 5 minutes.

Close to airport

Posted 18-Jan-2015
Pros: My room overlooking the airport runway, so close to my terminal
Cons: Refunding if cancellation is done 24hrs before arrival
Location: Did not have time, only wants to relax
Very cooperative staff, comfortable room, acceptable charge
