"The hotel was great! Easy check in, and they arranged a transfer to and from the ferry for me. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and responsive on WhatsApp. I had one meal at the restaurant and enjoyed it. The view from the pool is quite beautiful. The area is not particularly walkable as there are no shoulders on the roads, so rent a motor bike (arranged at the property), take taxis (pricy), or get ready to hike some hills in the heat (this is what I did)!"

"We booked the most expensive beach front bungalow for 2nights. The setting was beautiful but unfortunately we decided to cut out stay short. When we arrived we were taken to our room and found all 3 beds to have stained sheets, hairs and bugs.. we approached the receptionist who had checked us in and asked for the sheets to be changed, she was grumpy and snappy and asked us to wait until the next day to get the sheets changed, we politely refused and said we wouldn't be comfortable sleeping in...

Locations and Styles of Koh Phangan’s Independent Hotels

Much of the accommodation at the value end of the market is clustered around the main port town of Thong Sala, and along the coast road to Haad Rin, which includes the beaches of Ban Tai and Ban Kai. Haad Rin itself is also an extremely popular destination for younger travellers and those who like to be in the heart of the action. The east-facing 24-hour party beach of Haad Rin Nok (or Sunrise Beach) is home to the legendary full moon party, while the opposite west-facing beach of Haad Rin Nai (Sunset Beach) is quieter, with more restaurants than nightclubs. Slightly further south, Haad Sarikantang, otherwise known as Leela Beach, is another good option if you’re looking for easy access to Haad Rin, but still want to escape the crowds.
