"Lovely place, helpful friendly staff, good breakfast and a nice room. Only downside is the ensuite which although very nice is on the small side. Very dog friendly and the area is good for walking."

"A lovely, characterful old building on the edge of the Lake District, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, helping us feel right at home. It is very convenient as a base, being on the road between Penrith and Pooley Bridge with a direct bus route between the two, going as far as Windermere, and for drivers it is a good place to access most parts of the Lake District, being not far from the M6 and A66, making access to Carlisle and the Scottish borders equally easy. The room was very clean and comfortable and had a nice en suite bathroom, and being situated in a pub we were never lacking for somewhere nice to eat and drink. The cooked breakfasts in the morning were delicious, some of the best we've ever had at a hotel, and very handy for preparing us for the day's adventures."

"Really lovely Hotel and Pub. Very accommodating to guests staying at the Hotel, to find them a table for dinner or just a couple of drinks. Dog friendly on non-carpet areas, which is the majority of the pub. All staff really Friendly. The bed was a little hard, but I think that comes down to personal preference. Would recommend and we would stay again!"

"The room was very comfortable and clean. All members of staff very helpful. I really loved the water and milk dispensers to reduce extra waste. Bathroom was ever so slightly worn around the edges, but otherwise perfectly clean. Would definitely stay again."

"A lovely property and lovely people. Very comfortable bed. Everywhere was very clean. There was perhaps some need for improvements in some areas but only standard wear and tear. Nothing to spoil the stay. Far enough out of town to be away from any noise but close enough to access on foot. A good base for Ullswater and other lake district locations. Overall I would definitely recommend this place for comfort and convenience oh and a cracking breakfast 😊"
