Comfortable old Colonial-style downtown hotel

Posted 24-Aug-2014
Pros: Perfect location 5 minutes from beach or railway station; big, comfortable rooms; restaurant overlooking the main street great for people-watching
Cons: The hotel is definitely on the shabby side, with many parts needing renovation. Bathrooms and safes are most in need of updating.
Location: Perfect location on main downtown street a five minute walk from beach, railway station, night market, etc.
A great find at a bargain price in possibly the best downtown location in Hua Hin.

good value for offseason price we paid

Overall quite satisfactory. room was large, clean (aka no remnant hair etc on floor, bathroom etc like you get in some 3 star hotels.) Sheets were clean and bed was comfortable for me. hot water worked. Breakfast was simple but fine. They dont do a smorgasboard style with lots of left over and stale food. You order a western or Asian breakfast. its standard but if you wanted something else like fruit, extra toast etc you only had to ask and they would happily give to you. Service was friendly. Was on 3rd floor which was ok despite no elevator for mobile people. Location is excellent. I was worried being next to macdonalds it would be noisy but I (or my friends) had no noise issues. Noise from next room was quite muffled indicating it was pretty solidly built. For me its a hotel worth paying $USD 45-50 a night being 3 star (but I cant say how much i paid due to hotel.com rules). Given I wasn't in my room too much and just wanted a place to come home to that was simple, convenient, comfortable and clean it was in the right spot for the price i paid.

overall, not too bad

Locationwise, this hotel is brilliant. It has a decent breakfast, is reasonably priced, clean and quiet. On the downside, it it is rather basic. The ac in my room made quite a noise, there is a factory close by that makes an irritating whooshing sound all day, the service is good, but not great.
