The hotel staff were among the very best I have ever seen, and my wife and I travel quite a bit. They actually go out of their way to assist you in every which way possible. Right off the bat, upon arrival our room was upgraded without asking! This continued throughout our stay up to the very last minute.

Just returned from a week at the Lato Boutique Hotel in Heraklion. The hotel is comfortable and modern and the bedroom was a good size, with a small balcony overlooking the harbour. Breakfast (included) is a buffet, with plenty of choice. We ate two evening dinners in the hotel, one in the Herb's restaurant and one in the Brillant restaurant. Service and food both good. The bar is nice although lacks a bit of atmosphere, probably due to the awkward room shape. The staff team work hard to ensure that all needs are met, and are all helpful and attentive. We had selected a 'superior' room, which was fine. The only slight downside I would note is that although the bathroom was clean and modern, the actual showerhead was not in keeping with the high standard of the rest of the bathroom - it was one of those where the shower head detaches and was flimsy as a result. This did let the room down a bit. The hotel is well situated for the bus station (don't bother with a taxi to the airport) and for the town centre.
We booked a short break as we were in need of a good rest and this was the perfect place to go. Staff were lovely, food good, room fantastic, service excellent. With it's own really safe beach - wonderfully designed and engineered to make bathing pure fun. Good swimming pools. We particularly liked the fact that there was no need to carry cash around, free wifi (I needed for business), and reserved beds and 'cabins' on the beach for all rooms.
