“a hotel into the history of Firenza”
Is not a luxury hotel but it was a great expierence because is like living in an old house of firenze. Everybody is friendly. I hope I wold return again.
“Not impressed”
The staff at the front desk was rude and condescending. I speak English and Spanish and had my cheat sheet with Italian phrases but they still are very rude to Americans. The pictures of the hotel seem much nicer than the real thing, yes, if you're very into antiques you might be impressed but I found it dark and cold. On a lighter note, the staff at the breakfast buffet area was actually friendly, especially the guy from Brazil!
“A real taste of Florence”
This is my second visit to the Monna Lisa in Florence. What I love about this hotel is that even without stepping out into the centre of Florence (the location is excellent), you get a real taste of Florence. The beautiful buildings have masses of history, terracotta tiled floors, and art-filled interiors, characterful rooms, and a beautiful courtyard garden filled with Tuscan pots and jasmine. Some may find the rooms a bit quirky and they don't have masses of drawers for clothes, but there is usually a big cupboard and the bathrooms are well equipped and attractive with good showers and baths. If anything is missing or needs doing - our beds needed to be changed from a double to a twin for instance - it was no problem. The staff are very cheerful and very helpful. You get a really generous buffet breakfast here too - again a beautiful dining room and when it is warm there are tables in the garden too. I would love to go back again
“Very Italian aura/decor”
On arriving we were possibly offered the worst room in the hotel. Ground floor, street side, very small and dark. Considering i booked 6 months ago i thought this was extremely unfair. However, there was no hassle when i requested another room and from there on in it was all positive. i thought the staff were very helpful, the location is central and the hotel breakfast room and garden were delightful.
“Would definetly go back next time we are in Florence”
This is a great hotel; service is better than expected. What was really nice is that they took care (within minutes) of the reservations to both the Galleria della Academia and the Ufizzi Gallery.
“V Good 4 star Hotel”
Was slightly worried at a number of negative reviews about the staff but we both found them helpful and extremely friendly. Hotel is in a great location 10 minutes walk max from the Duomo. Great hotel and would recomend to friends and would certainly go back when we return to Florence.
“Great location, great accomodations”
Great location, great accomodations!
“ask for the Garden view”
Other Expedia reviewers mentioned the first room they were given was not suitable. So we were prepared when we were given a very small room with little light. I asked for a room with the garden view and they were very accommodating, saying they would move us the next morning when one became available. They moved all our suitcases for us. The garden views are beautiful. The staff is very friendly and helped us get reservations for museums. We loved the quiet neighborhood, a nice change from the bustling tourists just 1/2 mile away. We highly recommend the hotel for anyone who likes old-fashioned establishments and wants to feel like they are experiencing Renaissance Florence, with all the benefits of modern living.
“Awesome hotel!”
It was a beautiful place to stay - an old castle turned monastery, turned hotel. There were monna lisa's all over the place! The breakfast was delicious, down to the smallest detail of making a foam heart in my cappacchino. The service was great, staff very pleasant and more than willing to help us or chat with us. They seemed to care alot and I felt like I was special! It was a very home like place. Each day they helped us map out things we wanted to see and made reservations when we needed them. Everything was wonderful. It is located very close to most things and there are many wonderful places to eat that are near, and they suggested great restaurants. I cannot say enough about the staff. They were great! The room was very clean and each day we got clean towels and sheets and a daily paper. The bathroom was furnished with all things needed and things were checked and replaced daily. I loved the breakfast! The coffee, cheese and fruit was so wonderful! Fresh juice and a bar open for night caps with a wonderful bartender who would sit and chat if you wanted to! There was a computer available to use if you purchased cards at the desk as well. Exploring the hotel was great - each room was an adventure. We felt like we left friends when it was time to go home!
“Paradise behind the wall”
One of my favorite places to stay. We will be back. Pulling up in the taxi, it's just a door in the alley with a brass name plate on the wall. Enter into a courtyard with 500 year old frescoes on the ceiling. The property is fabulous. The staff could not be nicer, or more professional. Much of the main building is original, including the staircase right off the front desk and the floor to ceiling doors and terracotta floors in the breakfast room which date back 700 years. We stayed in the annex which is across the courtyard from the main building and probably not quite as cool, but still very nice. The restored 54 Lambretta scooter in our lobby was pretty cool too.
