Monna Lisa Hotel's building dates to the 1300s, when it was built as a convent. In the following centuries, the building passed between luminaries of Florentine culture, acquiring furniture, paintings, and statues--many of which remain today. Featuring pebble-pathed gardens, the hotel retains architectural details such as coffered ceilings and terra cotta floors. A bar has been fashioned out of the original convent's confessional. One lobby wall features interpretations of da Vinci's Mona Lisa.
