"Love staying at the Imperial Hotel , have stayed here before . It is a lovely hotel, historical. Food is great , breakfast buffet style with service. Evening menu's good selection, lovingly cooked and beautifully presented. A little pricey, but you get top quality for that. Bar prices are as expected ££. Can highly recommend the Devonshire cream tea, its delicious. The rooms , the decor and furnishings could do with a little attention, for example fraying carpet near bathroom door threshold, some distressed furniture cupboards nailed shut and water marked wood. A timely upgrade maybe needed. I would suggest the addition of mini fridges in the rooms. Absolutely love the sea views and the people make this hotel a wonderful place to stay."

"This is a great hotel, made all the more enjoyable by the owner who is witty, friendly and knowledgeable…..a nice bloke indeed. Great views, tasteful decor and relevant hanging art, clean linen and comfy beds, and a breakfast that sets you up for the day. Very good value for money hotel and I really enjoyed my stay there. One tip for guests….. when the hotel is full and everyone is getting up, your shower may suddenly dry up, so be creative with off peak showering and enjoy an uninterrupted soaking. I believe this hotel is underpriced. It’s definitely worth a visit!!"

"The only negative we had was the bar closing on Sunday evening at 10pm, whilst that was okay, we weren’t able to stay in the lounge area to finish our drinks or just to play cards, which we brought with us had to return to our rooms and as these were separate my friend and I had to end our evening. Hotel lounges should be open for use by residents which is usual at least until 11am"

"Best thing about this place was the food—really good restaurant! Room was nice. We appreciated the nearby park and ride with s bus going into the town center (we didn’t want to drive there). So we were able to see the Cathedral area. "

"Room very clean, cosy and comfortable. Reception and bar/restaurant staff both very friendly and efficient. The hotel is a very short walk from the city center and a 10 minute drive from the university. The only negatives were not a lovely view from my window - the post office and a car park - and the road is quite noisy, but I chose to have the window open instead of using the air con so it probably would have been quieter if I’d closed my window. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others."
