“El Paso Sampler”

Great Hotel with very nice room and views located very conviently near central plaza and museums. Excellent nearby Cafe Central restaurant. Hotel restaurant (Dome) had very good food but not the best waiter which dampened our experience.

Area recommendations
Visit the Mission Trail with its three very old Spanish missions located only a few minutes from downtown. Easy drive along the old Camino Real.
Dining
Cafe Central was an outstanding dining experience. Excellent food, wine and service.

“The Camino Real Hotel in El Paso, TX is the worst! Don't ever stay there!”

This hotel is a landmark in El Paso, TX and it is very sad that the current owners (a Mexican Hotel CompanY) is just not maintaining it. It is not clean at all. We complaint to the front desk staff about it and that there was not hot water in the room and they not even apologized for it. Don't ever stay there it is not worth it at all!

“The best hotel”

It was very good. At first, the magnetic key didn't work, and I should go up and down three times annoyingly. But the rest were all good. Room is spacious and comfortable, the bar had a Saturday night music band. Nearby, there is a Mexican live music bar.

“My home away from home.”

Each year I go to El Paso for Thanksgiving with my daughter and grandchildren. I stay at the Camino because they are close to my family and other people and places that I need to visit. The people at the hotel remember me and make sure that put me in the same corner room each year. Their service is great and the room is comfortable and always clean. I host a Sunday Brunch each time I am there for about 10 plus people and they take care of me very good. I am please withe my stay and will always go back as long as my family is there!

“Bad experience”

As soon as I got to the hotel, I noticed that there was no parking. All floors were taken up by people attending an event next door to the hotel. This has happened regularly. No parking for hotel guests. Then while checking in, I was informed that the king size bed room I had booked was not avaialable. Had to choose from either a double bed room or a queen bed room. this has happened several times. other visits have also been bad since their a.c. throughout the hotel, including rooms didn't work all through summer. this was very uncomfortable. local newspaper even ran a couple of stories detailing hotel guest horrible experiences.

“A gem!”

This hotel is a gem! The downtown location could not be better since it is across the street from the Art Museum and close by other museums/galleries as well as the Tourist Information Center and a wide range of shops. The rooms are very spacious, the quality of the furniture is outstanding and the bed was very comfortable. The Dome Bar has to be one of the most impressive in the world and the variety of dishes available in the breakfast bar is truly outstanding for a very reasonable price. You will not go wrong by staying at the El Camino Real!

Area recommendations
Downtown since it is close to museums, galleries, shops and the Tourist Information Center.

“Not as should be”

Considering the age of the hotel, it wasn't too bad. However, there was no organization for the parking and valet service. Apparently party goers have priority for the parking. Being tired from traveling I didn't like driving around in the small crowded parking garage and then asking the valet to park it, which he couldn't until a party goer left. This doesn't make a good first impression. Bed sloped to the middle somewhat. Otherwise, it was a place to sleep and go. I'd not stay there or recomend it unless one has business downtown.

Area recommendations
Airport or west side. This was not the west side although it was listed as such

“good service and comfort”

The hotel is a historic hotel so it is a little old, however it is well kept. Great service and friendly. Great stay.
