“Good resort but wait until the refurbishments have been completed”
We booked a garden room at the Palms Resort and did a bit of research on the Palms Resort prior to confirming our booking. The site noted that refurbishments were being carried out but would be completed well before our arrival. Transfers were made directly through the hotel (Melanesian Tours) on arrival into Port Vila Airport we waited for 1 hour before being transferred to the hotel (would reccomend taking a taxi from the rank rather than booking a transfer). Upon check-in we noted a hotel name change to The Holiday Inn. We were upgraded to a lagoon view room (which I realised later that afternoon, following a stroll around the resort, was because the garden view rooms were all undergoing refurbishment and in fact not available). We were dissapointed to find that the refurbishments that were meant to be completed well before our arrival were not - the beach pool (with swim up bar) and gymnasium that the hotel marketed were not available for use, dissapointing! The room itself was nice and had most amenities you would expect. The bed and pillows however were incredibly uncomfortable. There were several interuptions in the room during our stay, with workers requesting room access to make changes to the bathroom taps, springs on the room doors, etc. Reccomend an early breakfast if you like your beverages and milk cold. Meals are expensive for the quality you get. The staff were fantastic, so friendly and helpful. Would have been happier if the refurbishments were completed!
