“More than I Expected”
Did not really know what to expect but everything was great. I arrived early on an overnight flight from North America and my room was not ready at 11 am. Fair enough. The check in person said that he could not guarantee the room would be ready before 2 but if it would be he would call. I did not have a European calling plan on my phone but we agreed if he called and let it ring a few times I knew it would be them. He called at 1 and all was good. The only less than perfect thing happened when I returned. The 3 check in people were all busy with a decent sized line. However, they were all functioning as concierges making dinner reservations/working out maps and having to go get luggage for people out of storage. One more person on the concierge desk would have been useful and not tied up all the check in spots. Beyond that, and a very dull bread cutting knife on the buffet at breakfast, all was great.
“great location but needs some updating”
I first stayed at the Radisson Blu Edinburgh about 4 years ago when it was very pristine and nice. It is starting to show its age in terms of the decor now. It needs new carpets and a bit more colour. It feels quite 'ordinary' now so is overpriced compared to some of the other hotels in Edinburgh.
“Would definitely go back, couldn't have asked for a better location!”
Fabulous location, right at the heart of Edinburgh old town - a short walk to all main attractions e.g. Castle and Palace. Lots of great places to eat and drink, in particular, full scottish breakfast at Rabbi Burns Cafe across from the hotel - reasonably priced and scrumcious! Hotel was great, modern, clean and good size room. Will definitely be going back.
“I will stay here again!”
Convenient to all the tourist attractions! You have to pay for the parking!
“Highly recommend in Old Town”
Despite room not being ready on arrival, staff very helpful, hotel quite modern & fresh, comfortable and spacious rooms, free wifi, good food, very good location.
“not impressed.what a great big downer!!”
This is the 3rd time back to this hotel over 7 years. It was called crown plaza at one time. We havent been for 5 years, i book the upgraded business class room, with the superbreakfast ? the room look like it been halve quite small. the bathroom with up graded etc, was a joke, the shower was like getting a shower under a watering can, and the bathroom was small. the room wasnt very clean and scruffy. carpet had worn and black marks all over, The breakfast wasnt much, four choices of cheap celreal and the rolls, danish was just 3 choices, the same every day, i had better in hospital! It was poor, poor, and certainly wasnt worth the money we paid. I think all they seem to care about are hen and stag do they get, we wont be going again, we were dissapionted
“Perfect situation”
Excellent position along Royal Mile means exploring the city on foot is a doddle. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent with as much as you can eat. Rooms are quiet and well equipped. Only fault I found was that the gym has no air conditioning and the fan on the treadmill was the only respite for overheating. Well worth a visit and would certainly recommend it.
“Great location in the old town”
We stayed here for three nights and would highly recommend the hotel for both location and comfort. The hotel is situated on the royal mile itself, so very convenient for attractions such as the castle, the whisky tour and the camera obscura museum - all of which we would also recommend! Comfort wise our room was fairly large and very comfortable, with a plain but clean bathroom. On the saturday night there was some noise from a bar nearby, but when we spoke to reception they were quick to offer a new room, but pointed out it would quieten down after 12, which it did - so no real complaints there. The bar also stocked some good wine, which is important! Overall, I would highly recommend the hotel - we are planning to go back.
“Excellent Location”
Very comfortable and conveniently located on the Royal Mile; walking distance to most attractions as well as Waverly train station. The only complaint: Some rooms face a youth hostel that can be somewhat noisy in the evening. In response to our complaint the hotel staff moved us to a very quiet room.
“great location but ...”
We went to the Radisson for the Edinburgh Festival. It was an ideal location - we were in the midst of evrything and really felt part of it all. Unfortunately our room overlooked High Street so we were also in the midst of the noise from the pub oppositte which went on to 4 in the morning. The double glazing helped but not enough. In future I would insist on a room at the back of the hotel The public areas in the hotel look good and are well maintained. The service was very responsive - extra towels turned up within 5 minutes of calling. Our room was in severe need of refurbishment - the carpet was severely worn in several places and did not smell fresh. The two large lamps in the room seemed to have been dumped there as they did not really fit in with everything else in the room. The wooden bed surround was too big for the queen size bed. The duvet cover was too big for the duvet and on one day had a small blood stain on it. All in all the room condition was not good enough for a 3 star let alone a 4 star
