I have to say my expectations weren't that high when I booked this hotel stay. I thought it would be a basic hotel with average rooms. But no! The room was so much bigger then I expected, the room was lovely and clean and the bed very comfortable. We were near the end of a corridor and it was very quiet which we were pleased about. The breakfast, although basic, was in good supply and nice and hot. So I would definitely recommend this hotel for a one or two night stay in Portsmouth.

The Holiday Inn was just what we wanted, clean, quiet and with friendly staff. The room was very clean and tidy. We only had a 10/15 minute walk into the Historic Dockyard, Gunwharf Quays, Spinnaker Tower area where most of the sights are located. Portsmouth has lots to see and do and plays host to just about every restaurant you could imagine. We had a fantastic meal in Brassiere Blanc for my husband's birthday - a real treat.
Booked 2 rooms, one for me and partner and another with a sea view for my parents (special occasion), nothing was tool much trouble from the hotel staff. Good breakfast, nice bar area, clean rooms. Don't expect mod cons this is a traditional hotel, slow down, relax sand enjoy it and it's surroundings. Thanks to everyone who made the stay so pleasant.

We stayed for 1 Sunday night in August 2014. We arrived very early (well before checkin) and were warmly welcomed and offered breakfast, tea/coffee etc. We declined breakfast but were provided teas and coffees, plus use of lounges and toilets at no cost. The rooms we were given were lovely, though we spent most of the day and night at the Victorious festival. The beds did seem especially comfortable after about 14 hours on our feet! Breakfast the next day was very good and after checkout we were offered to keep hotel parking permit while we had a walk along the beach and some lunch. All in all a very pleasant experience and great advert for independent friendly hotels
