Overall a fantastic weekend break in a wonderful hotel. Great staff, room and location. Worth every penny. Unfortunately dinner at the famous crazy bear restaurant out of town was a let down. Would rather have eaten in the hotel.
The owner of the hotel was very friendly and accommodating, he kept the kitchen open late for us to have dinner( which was delicious). We talked quite a bit about the hospitality industry. We had a great breakfast the next morning.
Woodstock is such a beautiful English town and this very old house in its high street is so full of charm and character. Our room had a real 'wow' to it with its light, size and loft room roof rafters and its lovely old world feel. Really nice large comfortable bed and very large modern bathroom. Clearly the hotel's age limits its facilities but that wasn't an issue to us. Nice generous breakfast in the morning served by the pleasant and helpful owners.
Would very happily stay there again.

I have found that a very good indication as to the quality of a hotel is how they deal with a problem. On the first night we were told that there was a problem with the gas supply to the kitchen, but all the items on the menu were still available. True to their word the problem was fixed without any inconvenience to those staying.
Well done to the staff and they were always available and willing to discus the problem and the planned outcome.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was lovely and clean, the bed was one of the most comfortable i have ever slept in,in a hotel. They have two kitchens one serves english food the other Indian , my husband had the Sally chicken from the Indian menu which he said was one of the best meals he has tasted. I don't know why there are bad reviews about this place as we found it very clean, the staff were extremely friendly. We would defiantly stay here again and recommend it to others.
