Short stay

Posted 11-May-2015
Pros: Just about everything.
Cons: Bed was super-king, which was great. Mattress was softer than we like - but didn't prevent a good night's sleep.
Location: Grasmere a short walk away, and the choice of Lakeland walks.
Just an overnight, for the cycling event - but a pleasure on all counts. Food was really good quality, the spa pool something really special - especially after 115 miles in a bike - and the views, bed and staff were all equally top notch. We'll be back - hopefully without a bike.

Splendid Hotel Overlooking Grasmere

Posted 22-Apr-2015
Pros: Beautiful Bedroom overlooking Grasmere and the mountains. Very comfortable 6' bed, bathroom lots of space and very good shower. Very friendly staff
Cons: Dining room food not quite up to the very high standard of the other hotel features
Location: Many of the rooms have a good view of grasmere, beautiful and peaceful. There are walks from the hotel.short or longer. There is the Wordsworth Muse
Wife and I had a very enjoyable one night stay in this luxoriously appointed hotel.

Excellent lake view

Posted 18-Feb-2015 on Hotels.com
The daffodil hotel had no record of our stay which was booked through hotels.com. Fortunately, Tamas on the front desk was very accomodating and even upgraded us to a lake view room for the trouble (even though the error was hotels.com) Bed was massive (superking) and we had 2 patio doors which overlooked the lake. ALL of the staff that we came across were very polite and always gave us a smile which made us feel very welcome. We were also given free access to the spa (although presumably all residents were given this access. The spa was adequate for sitting in a sauna and steam room (but not really worth the advertised price of £20pp. Variety of foods at breakfast. All in all, a comfortable stay

Excellent lakeside hotel

Posted 06-Jan-2015
Pros: The calm, peaceful atmosphere.
Cons: Locker system in the spa changing room (male) - nearly all seemed to be locked even when there were few people using the facilities.
Location: Great location for walking and access to the fells. Adjacent to Wordswoth's Dove Cottage and museum.
Everything that you would expect from a top quality hotel - excellent room, bar, dining room, spa suite. Just what we wanted in a glorious location.

2nd visit and I'll still go again!

Posted 16-Dec-2014 on Hotels.com
This was our second visit to The Daffodil this year and as per our first trip the hotel was fantastic. The staff are always friendly and courteous and will do almost anything to make sure you are looked after. The only complaint is due to the hotels.com website. The room was booked via the website and three hours later when we arrived they had no idea we were coming. The website let me book a room that wasn't available and didn't offer rooms that were. However, the staff were amazing. Rather than make us wait for over an hour for a room to be cleaned they upgraded us from a standard room to a senior suite for no extra charge despite the fact it would have cost us quite a bit more. They were even apologetic for the error despite me saying numerous times it wasn't their fault. The whole weekend, regardless of the upgrade, was amazing. Good food, good surroundings, a quality hotel and above all fantastic staff.
