"I wanted to stay at an historic place and the Lafayette fit the bill. The property was nice and clean and in a great location. The rooftop seating was so nice to relax and watch the barges navigate the river. The free breakfast in the Gun Room was excellent and the bar had great food and good service. The only negative, and its not that big of a deal was the small bathroom. I would stay here again. "

"The only 2 problems we had was first the bed was very hard .. ( if you like a hard mattress then this is the place ) .. the second was no fault of there own . There was a very strong chlorine smell outside coming from somewhere ( didn’t smell it inside ) but made it uncomfortable to sit outside . We only stayed 1 night so the day we arrived and the day we left , you can smell it no matter what time .. outside that .. very clean and the staff very friendly "
