Canterbury Cathedral Lodge

Canterbury Cathedral, Canterbury - Map

"Great location"
The lodge is located right next door to the cathedral. The gardens and the view to the cathedral are very nice. The staff, the service, and the breakfast were very nice. The only thing I did not care for is that the rooms were not air conditioned. That information was not given to us when we reserved the rooms. It is London, and it was quite chilly, but with allergies, I still would have preferred an air conditioned room.

"Excellent location for chic hotel"
Most enjoyable stay, comfortable, and conveniently placed in town centre. Only downside was being accommodated above where the linen.rubbish deliveries were, getting a 6.30am wakeup call. On plus side even though the cocktail's were expensive, they were spot on.

Best Western Abbots Barton Hotel

"Perfect walking distance from City Centre"
The staff were very welcoming. The room was excellent with good facilities and the standard of cleanliness was superb. Being set back from the road in it's own grounds, the rooms were quiet. There was parking available close to the hotel entrance and seating outside to enable you to sit in the sunshine and enjoy the gardens.

Holiday Inn Express Canterbury

"Cheap and it shows"
First -this hotel is hard to spot from the carriage way! It is tucked in behind a gas station. The sign pointing the way is way back off of the road and small! Second -the beds are lumpy, hard, and very uncomfortable. But there is a nice bathroom and overall the cleanliness of the hotel is good. The complimentary breakfast quality is marginal, but it is convenient. However, the machine you use to pick different coffee drinks broke in the middle of breakfast. You know how it is when you haven't had your first cup of coffee?! The price is reasonable, but in this instance you are getting what you pay for; or more accurate -you aren't getting any more than what you pay for! If you are super price sensitive and need to stay near Canterbury, this is probably going to be your best choice price wise. Too bad this survey doesn't provide a "maybe' button for the Recommendation Question. Because that's what I would have given. If Canterbury is your true destination, and you want several days there to explore, then pick something in town. Otherwise, if you only need a night and do not want to get stuck going into Canterbury, this will do. My son was graduating from Kent University so I wasn't there to see the sights necessarily. (Although Canterbury is very charming!) We later went on to London, so I saved my holiday $ for that leg of the journey.
