Lovely character hotel. Spotlessly clean.with nice little touches..like warm cinnamon tea on table for guests..a selection of herbal teas(no coffee though) outside your room with filtered water.free apples and little chocolates It really was a special hotel. The front of the hotel is right on the river and has a very beautiful view. The tram from the main station stops about 30yards away...only but was the street side of the hotel had a small bar that was little rowdy but the free earplugs and solid double glazed window the hotel provides more than compensates for it.. lovely restaurant on site too. Great overnight stay..

"Spacious, well located and well-equipped apartment"
A really lovely apartment at the top of a renovated building equipped to a very high standard. TV, dishwasher, espresso machine, washing machine, good shower, etc.
We only stayed 1 night, but this would be comfortable for stays of weeks.
The minor issue regarding comfort is that it is too warm in the apartment to sleep with the windows closed, but too noisy in the streets outside (at least at the weekend) to sleep with them open, so we didn't have our best night's sleep. However, fans are provided.
Note that keys must be collected from the nearby Hotel du Commerce, but this is was not mentioned in any of the booking or itinerary details, so we spent some time wandering around with suitcases trying to work out how to gain entry to the apartment.
The hotel staff were absolutely brilliant and helpful, insisting on giving a personal tour of the apartment.
Breakfast is available at the hotel and is of a very high quality.

Hotel Royal was great; very minimalist and clean and stylish, though so minamilist the corridors bordered on being hostel-like. The room was lovely with its own large balcony that looked over a residential leafy suberb; particularly surprising when you think that this hotel is across from one of the big train stations. Very convenient to the Messe. The only problem was that it was expensive and I was surprised that the breakfast was not included - I assumed at this price that breakfast was included: my own fault, I suppose. The coffee at breakfast was freshly made from the machine. I would stay here again if I couldn't find better value elsewhere in Basel.

We booked this to be a luxury base whilst visiting family in Basel over Christmas. Very attentive staff, excellent facilities. This was an ideal base for us, being centrally situated in the town with everything either a short walk or tram ride away. Our very comfortable room had excellent views over the Rhine. We enjoyed being so close to the famous Christmas Markets.

We stayed at Hotel Basel over night to board our river cruise trip. The front desk staff are very friendly and efficient. The man checking us in made a great suggestion for a walk. If we would have gone the way I thought, we would have ended up in an industrial end of town.
Beautiful city and the hotel's location is perfect!! Right in the middle of city centre and close to market square.
Would stay again.

Staff were very obliging. We had trouble getting a car park as their restaurant was busy due to it being Mother's Day. The staff went out of its way to secure a spot for us with a male staff member moving a staff car so we could use the car park.
