“Worked for me”
Look... it's not the Hilton. However, the staff was completely friendly, upbeat, and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable despite needing a little maintenance. I was pleasantly surprised that given the quality, age of building, and fact I got a smoking room there weren't any funny smells. Best part is the FREE INTERNET YOU CAN'T GET AT $200/night HOTELS--Awesome! AND the check out time is noon--Double awesome!! (I like to sleep in after a night on 6th street)
“Not good!”
The room was smelly and not very good even for a discount hotel. I wished I had spent $20 more and got a descent place.
“Bed Bug Central!!”
I woke up in the middle of the night scratching but did not think too much of it. I then looked in the mirror the next morning and the entire right side of my neck was covered with bites - I am talking about 14 bites. I also had a few on my arms and hands. I knew there was something skeevy about this place and lo and behold, I was ambushed by parasites in the middle of the night.
“not impressed”
Spend a little more and get a better room elsewhere. The bed was hard and I tossed and turned all night. The comforter on the bed had cigarette burns on it and looked dirty. Never again!!
“It was ok for a three night stay”
I would go back and stay if it was only for a couple of days
“Smells like mold”
My room was shabby. But so what for a night. But it smelled of mold. They kindly changed my room. Either someone smoked in the bathroom right before I walked in or somehow smoke drifted in there the bathroom had cigarette smoke smell in it. When I took the room I didn't smell mold but the next morning I could. Risky for someone if you are allergic. Close to downtown. Would be fine without the mold.
“BED BUGS!”
Not 100% sure, but I discovered bed bugs in my computer case when I was was waiting at the airport. Also, the hotel was in pretty terrible condition generally and not in a good area.
“Definitely a good place for $50 a night”
I think it's a good place for the money. The lady who checked me in said guests weren't supposed to be staying alone if they're under 21 -- I'm 20 -- but since I booked through Expedia she let me stay there. I was only there for a few hours -- while I was asleep -- but it was good enough. I was surprised I didn't have a minifridge or a microwave and the room was oddly arranged in my opinion but i didn't have to put up with it for very long. If I go back to Austin and need a cheap place to stay I might consider going here again unless I can get a nicer place for a bit more money. The breakfast selection was pitiful though. Stale cereal and barely any fruit and of course terrible coffee. But I wasn't there for the breakfast. I just needed a bed!
“right place, right time”
needed a place to stay, to hit downtown austin 9am. Perfect placement to jump on 71 and get to guadalupe in less than 10 minutes. The internet was decent, and we checked in really late (nearly 2am, driving from houston), so that was good. The mattresses were acceptable, nothing better. If I was expecting to enjoy my stay and spend a weekend, I would have been severely disappointed. For a place to catch some rest before an appointment downtown, it is perfect, especially for less than sixty with two full beds. Didnt make use of anything besides the toilet and the iron, so not much to review, but the ac unit was a bit noisy. All in all, decent - not great, not horrible.
“This place is GHETTO!”
Stucco missing in patches on the ceiling. They left the used soap from the previous guest in my shower. The whole building smells like mold, and it's worst in the room. The woman I dealt with at the front desk was lovely and charming but that is the only positive thing about this place.
