Almost merging with neighboring Ixia, Ialysus lies on the north coast, 6 km from the airport, and 8 km from Rhodes Town. The narrow, pebbled Ialyssos Beach affords views of Turkey across the water. The town takes its name from Ancient Ialysus, 5 km inland and home to a 4th-century BC temple and a peaceful monastery, well worth a visit.
