Altstadt Grossbasel Hotel Guide - 3 stars Hotels in Altstadt Grossbasel, Switzerland

My partner and I stayed in the Teufelhof on a trip to Basel. I booked the hotel owing to the good reviews on here and we can now second them fully. Upon arriving we were greeted by a most helpful staff member who couldn't have been more of a help. The room itself was then the big surprise. Kitted out in a serene atmosphere of white and wood, high quality furnishings and with a great bathroom, our room was the perfect complement to our previous travels in Switzerland where we'd had long travels. The room was of a (small-)medium size which suited us fine. We were also hugely pleased by the finding of two small books on the bed, these being interviews with a famous philosopher and an author, showing the hotel remains true to the ethos of the self-proclaimed city of culture in which it finds itself. Other niceties were the free espresso coffee and water in the rooms. The breakfast was a buffet of normal range, yet high quality; it sated our morning hunger more than adequately! Oh, and I should mention we got a travel card for the whole of the Basel public transport network as part of our stay. This is a touch I personally have never come across anywhere else and really was the icing on the proverbial cake for our stay in this gem of a hotel.
