Cape Verde Ski Holidays

The view from Belvedere is breathtaking, but the property is extremely far from the harbour and involves a long, tiring trek with countless stairs. The room, although described as a suite, is very basic and more in line with a 3-star standard at best. The staff did try to help, but their capacity was limited. The receptionist was unable to assist with luggage despite the many stairs; fortunately, our driver helped us. She also recommended a restaurant on arrival which turned out to be dreadful — essentially fast food for locals. It was dirty, unhealthy, and completely unsuitable. The swimming pool is tiny, though at least it allowed for some sunbathing. Breakfast was mediocre and ends at 11am. There is no food or drink service available during the day, which is unacceptable and reflects a general lack of service. The hotel feels more suited to backpackers and budget travellers — certainly not our taste and absolutely not luxury. Toiletries were minimal, towels and pillows had to be requested upon arrival (thankfully I had my own toiletries), and the bed was uncomfortable — the mattress triggered my sciatica. The reception itself is tiny, almost like a mouse hole, and unwelcoming. In short, aside from the spectacular views, I would not stay here again. This hotel is not for me or my husband.

Accommodation is very dated. Website photos do not reflect the hotel. Many of the properties on the resort are old and dilapidated. Wifi in room was the worst I have experienced in the last 10 years and we was lied to about this. For example you will have Wi-Fi on the sofa but less than three metres away you can’t use Wi-Fi in the bed to make a phone call. It was that bad. It was explained as a blackout across Cape Verde however good internet in bar area and other parts of Sal. Friendly and helpful staff especially Duke and the restaurant and bar staff. Free shuttle to Santa Maria twice a day was useful.

Only resort that is handicap accessible! Stuff are friendly and helpful! Great customer service! definitely recommend

Great pool and hotel

Disappointing stay. Beautiful location but things like the cleaners taking towels and not replacing them, which happened every day, black mould in the pool of the swim up rooms and swim up bar, cats roaming around all bars and restaurants, even in kitchen areas and on furniture and not being able to book à la carte restaurants during the stay as they were allegedly fully booked but then appeared to have ample availability each evening made it a disappointing experience.
