Great location right on the beach. The hotel has no pool, workout room, and coffee is $2.50 except for the single cup brew in your room, but rooms are clean and beds are very comfy. If you want walk out beach access, it's worth the stay if you don't need much more than lodging and a decent restaurant on site. I'd come again.

The hotel was very clean and had a beautiful view. The only issue we had was with the TV—we tried to connect to YouTube, but we couldn’t get it to work. Other than that, it was a beautiful hotel, and we really enjoyed our stay.

It's a little expensive for how old the building is. Modern amenities haven't really come up much in their renovation. It really needs a lot more modern amenities. But it was all right it's great if you want to be right on the beach. I wish they would put something that smells good in the hallways though. The hallways just stink so bad like old hotel

My family and I always enjoy our time at Illinois beach hotel. Nolan Restaurant never disappoints and what an amazing lake view from my room. My only complaint is that I wish they would clean the outside and the inside of the windows of the rooms. They tend to be quite dirty. Other than that, we all had a great time! The young man with glasses at the front desk was patient, professional and excellent in accommodating our needs, which made our stay even better. We truly appreciate his kindness. Thank you!

My room wasn't cleaned. Check in is 4pm. I got there between 5pm and 5:30. I got to the room to nothing cleaned. It was cleaned up quickly after I told them. Otherwise it was a great place to stay. The beach is great.

I had a midweek stay here. Staff was helpful, rooms clean, and beach is beautiful. There was limited staff working so they were having to wear many hats. Restaurant food was good but again, only one server which made service a bit slow, but I was on vacation and not bothered by a longer wait. Would stay here again.

This hotel sits right on the beach in a beautiful setting. The building is older and currently undergoing renovations, which leaves some dust and debris on the hallway carpets — a quick vacuuming in the areas not under construction would go a long way. The staff, on the other hand, were excellent. When I flagged a few other concerns, they addressed them promptly. One tip: bring your own coffee. The lobby coffee is not free, and the 2 in-room pods run out quickly. Overall, I had a pleasant stay and loved swimming in the lake in the evenings.

This property has so much potential because of its location and proximity to the beach, but it was unfortunately sad and deflated when we went. The best part of the property was the staff, who were polite and gracious. The room was also clean, but they have a pretty archaic temperature regulating system. I think at one time the property might have been a magnificent resort, but it was obvious that its prime was long past gone when we visited. There appeared to be some remodeling in progress, so I hope the redesign vamps it up and brings it life again. The restaurant food was cafeteria-ish too, which made me all the more sad because I could tell they were trying their best to give the illusion of high-end standards on a budget. To be fair, the weather was rainy, so maybe the gloom impacted the ambiance. I'm not opposed to coming back after the remodeling is done. I'm curious to see if my subpar experience was just due to the circumstances at the time.

Room was spotless! Hotel was quiet and only noise I heard was guests coming and going in the hallway. The view from my room (211) was beautiful and relaxing. I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. There is a pool area that’s under construction and will be a nice, added amenity.

No swimming pool no gym been over couple years already yet you are still paying the high price to stay here and you can stay within 10 minutes for much less with all the amenities. It was raining in our room during the storm and we had ants walking around even on our bed. Front desk is unhelpful and in my opinion kind of rude. I definitely won't be staying here again.

If it's all about location, then this hotel is excellent. But beyond direct beach front access, this hotel is pretty bare bones (not even a toilet paper holder!). Staff was ok, but after we checked-in, they didn't acknowledge our presence. Would stay here again only to have excellent beach and hiking trail access. Otherwise, not much going on.
