Sharazad has many great qualities but the best thing is the staff-amazingly helpful and kind. I want to say a big thanks to Richard who was a legend, the manager who used to live in Bangalore (sorry i cant remember your name!) and all the staff in the restaurant who were so friendly. The hotel is in the heart of Stone Town and is full of character, the rooms were comfy and breakfast was delicious. As a vegan I find breakfast can be the trickiest meal when travelling, but I always had something healthy and hearty to eat here. They told us on the first day that the cost to the airport would be $25\. However, on the day we were leaving, they suddenly added a tax, making it $33 in total for just an eight-kilometer distance. To put this into perspective, without even comparing to the world's most expensive cities but just locally: we were quoted $40 for a one-hour drive from the airport to Paje beach, and a friend was charged $35 for a two-hour journey to Nungwi. The comparison makes their rate seem ridiculous.
