About the Area
Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second-highest vertical drop waterfall in Yosemite) and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup game of basketball at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The history village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season, and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year-round riparian meadow wildlife viewing. Wawona was known to the local Native Americans in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area), and is located on the South Fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley. Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch, which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station. The Redwoods in Yosemite has over 110 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance to everything that Wawona has to offer, and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

Ok but do your research.
Very rustic. 4 coffee filters left for us for a one week stay. Better pack everything including TP as you get 2 rolls only. Terrible directions to Swinging Bridge, dogs and kids almost had heat stroke getting there on the longest route possible. Discovered 2 beautiful swim sites by accident one of which is on the same street as the rental agency which no one bothered to mention.
The place was clean thats the best thing I can say. The staff doesnt care if you enjoy your stay or not. You are on your own.

Winter Wonderland
The cabin was perfect in every way. Was there during a winter snowfall and The Redwoods checked in and made sure we had everything we needed. Loved being lulled to sleep by the sound of the river which runs directly behind the cabin as well as having a roaring fire in the evening to stay toasty. Everything is very clean and well maintained and the bathroom and living room looked like it was recently redone. All the basics are provided for and I had no trouble preparing meals. Also the side of cabin is stocked with firewood. Looking forward to staying again in 17C.

Charming town, great location
The house was clean and comfortable, and the kitchen was stocked with the essential utensils/tools we needed. For 3 of us we felt the house was roomy. It had comfortable, well made beds, and had a very clean, new bathroom. Since cell phone usage was "iffy" it was comforting to have a working phone in the house. We were all charmed by the town and beauty of the location. The Redwoods at Yosemite made the process of arranging the booking and checking in and out a breeze.

Summer Trip
We really enjoyed staying here, it was exactly what we needed. Wish we had brought our own coffee as well as some sharper knives to use in the kitchen but otherwise it was great!
I would definitely let people know, that if you arrive late in the evening, there is really no where close to grab a quick bite to eat. Plan to bring your dinner that first evening so you are not driving around like we were. We would definitely stay again!

Great place to stay!!
Great location! Wonderful, roomy cottage! Very clean, all the amenities! Loved our visit!! Thoughtful owners have included a working landline telephone and even internet and cable tv. Cell phones did not work in this area. We were glad to see the nearby grocery store and gas station. Our stay was awesome!

Nice - not amazing.
Rooms we're decently sized, kitchen was well stocked with all utensils needed and it was VERY nice to be inside the actual park. The location is great and you're very close to supplies/gas if you need them. It was not a bad a place at all, just average (as the 3 stars attest to). If you're going to be spending all of your time in the Valley or surrounding area this is a good spot.
Two complaints:
1. Lack of A/C. It's not stated on the website so I can't fault them, but it gets quite hot during the summer and the fans provided in the unit can only do so much. Come prepared to sweat, or come when it is cooler outside.
2. The booking process was a little archaic. They list on multiple websites but I found it easiest to call as everything seemed to be "email us and we'll get back to you." Properties book up quickly in Yosemite and being able to book electronically would have been useful. Also - a lot of fees were not listed in the price. Be prepared to pay an extra 25% on top of whatever the list price is.

Does What it Says on the Tin
We've stayed in several vacation rentals in Yosemite and Tahoe region, and this unit was comfortably in the middle of the range. Comfortable and clean, but also a little dated and sparse. Actually, it was one of the most sparsely outfitted kitchens I've ever rented, but functional. The location of the unit is good; it backs up to a small gully that leads to a school playing field, and beyond that a playground. We visited with our two year old and it was a nice amount of space to walk around given that time of year. If you were taking the only car into Yosemite, but someone wanted to stay behind, most healthy adults could walk down to see the old buildings, and convenience store.

The Redwoods in Yosemite
We stayed in the "new beginnings" cabin and had a great time! The house was fully stocked, warm, and comfortable, and nothing beats waking up to the beautiful redwoods right outside your door. We had coffee on the little deck out back and enjoyed the quiet serenity. Jeanine and the rest of the staff were absolutely amazing! I can't say enough good things about them, 5 stars for staff! We cannot WAIT to come back!!
