Wonderful Short Break

Wren provided us ample space and comfort for our 3 night stay. We really enjoyed our stay. On arrival at the cottage we found a welcome basket with teas, coffee, hot chocolates, biscuits and even a couple of small bottles of wine as well as a bottle of milk in the fridge. A lovely touch. As I was unpacking the car one of the property owners from the nearby property came over to welcome us and check everything was ok and told us the they had already lit the hot tub and it should be ready for us to use. They also told us how to light a new fire for it if we need to add additional heat. There was enough wood and firelighters provided for the duration of our 3 night stay and the whole family enjoyed time in the hot tub every night of our stay, despite the weather not being the warmest! We cottage itself is quite remote which meant the only noises you could hear were the bird calls of the local birds, which was very relaxing. We tried the local Wolds Inn restaurant in Huggate which was around a 5 minute drive from the cottage. We enjoyed a lovely meal here and the chef was willing and able to make adjustments to the items on the menu to suit dietary restrictions of members of our family. We also spent a day in York which was around a 30 minute drive away, a day at Sledmere House which the kids loved and a day out to the seaside at Bridlington.
