Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Xocchel?
The best area to stay in Xocchel is within the town centre, particularly around the main square, known as the Parque Principal.

This area is the heart of Xocchel and offers the most convenience and local character. The Parque Principal is easily identifiable by its central gazebo and the surrounding historic buildings, including the Church of San Juan Bautista. You'll find a few local eateries and shops within a short walk. The streets here are generally quiet, providing a relaxing base.

For travellers looking for an authentic local experience, staying in the town centre is ideal. You'll be right where local life unfolds, with easy access to the main market area and community activities. It's a great spot to experience the rhythm of a traditional Yucatecan town.

For visitors interested in cultural immersion and a peaceful retreat, the area just a few blocks from the Parque Principal is also a good choice. While slightly further from the immediate centre, these streets offer a more residential feel with traditional Yucatecan homes, often with charming gardens.
When is the best time to go to Xocchel?
The best time to go to Xocchel for pleasant weather is during the dry season, from November to April.

During these months, you'll experience warm temperatures and significantly less rainfall, making it ideal for exploring the region's attractions. The days are typically sunny, with average temperatures hovering around 25-30°C (77-86°F), and the evenings are comfortably cool. This period avoids the intense heat and humidity of summer, as well as the higher chance of tropical storms.

Couples looking for a relaxing escape will find this a superb time. You can comfortably enjoy outdoor activities like visiting nearby cenotes, exploring archaeological sites, or simply unwinding by a pool. The cooler evenings are also lovely for enjoying dinner outdoors.

For those interested in local culture and festivities, visiting in November can coincide with Día de Muertos celebrations in nearby towns, offering a unique insight into Mexican traditions.
Can I cancel my hotel reservation on Expedia?
You can cancel your hotel reservation on Expedia, though it depends on the cancellation policy of your booking. Most bookings are refundable if canceled within 24-48 hours of the scheduled arrival. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. If free cancellation is available, you can cancel directly through your Expedia account by logging in, going to "My Trips", and selecting your reservation. To find flexible deals, filter your search by "Fully refundable property" for hotels in Xocchel.
How much is the nightly rate at a Xocchel hotel?
Prices for hotels in Xocchel often vary, but you can find a great deal from £23 on Expedia. All sorts of factors affect price, such as the time of year or the days of the week you choose for your stay. Find the best deals by being flexible with your dates, and sort search results by "Price: low to high" for the cheapest rate.
