Lixouri

"The apartment is in a very central position in Lixouri. Ideal for the square, the ferry and all that Lixouri has to offer. The apartment was clean when we arrived, was cleaned once during our stay - perfect for us. It is well refurbished and had all the amenities we needed and as described. We had good sleeps (apart from the church bells on Sunday morning but this is to be expected in any Greek town). Good bed and pillows. Excellent blinds to keep it dark. Very nice balcony for two people...

"This was a beautiful hotel and the location is excellent. The property is in the main central location close to Liroux port and above the central square. Everything in the unit was new and it was so clean and elegant. The shower was perfect and the layout of the unit was great. I wish we had more time spent in Liroux would definitely return to this location. I had a question to the host and got an immediate response. My son and I enjoyed staying here"

Kefalonia Grand Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Lovely hotel, centrally located. Nice breakfast and super helpful staff. Wonderful views across the bay. Very comfortable rooms. We were lucky enough to enjoy an upgrade to the penthouse with the jacuzzi! Fabulous!"

F ZEEN KEFALONIA - Adults Only

10/10 Excellent

"Staff were super friendly. Hotel felt spacious, lots of sun loungers to choose from on the beach. Easy walk to tavernas and bars, as well as a mini market, both beach side and up in the village. The yoga classes were great-not all for yoga bunnies which was a relief!! The gym facilities super. Amazing sunsets every night. Concierge helped us with taxis, hire cars and gave a great outside recommendation for our anniversary dinner one night. Loved it"

Electra Kefalonia Hotel & Spa

10/10 Excellent

"Situated near the airport, the hotel/resort is easy to get to. The hotel will arrange airport transport for a small fee. It is well staffed and exceptionally clean. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is on the ocean with access to a nice nearby beach. Several economical restaurants are within 2-3 minutes walk. Rental cars are available at the property (requiring international driving license) and are a must for seeing the area and the island. There are no shuttles to nearby towns or other parts of the island, so the rental car is the way to go. The restaurant food is very good, as is the free breakfast. The only "down side" would be the for the breakfast buffet where food was not replaced for long periods, example fried eggs and other items went empty for a while before they were refreshed. Other than that the place is really nice."

Tetra Retreat

10/10 Excellent

"My gf and I went and it was great, the main pool was practically free most of the time due to the personal pools most rooms had. The room pool it’s self was lovely and a nice size, although if you get too close to the edge you can see/are visible to other rooms as the walls either side ends. Each morning you get a lovely breakfast basket of bread/pastries and then select your main dish from the menu. Really enjoyed!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Xi?

The best area to stay in Xi is the beachfront itself, particularly around the main stretch of sand where most of the facilities are located.

This area is defined by its long, sandy beach known for its unique red-hued sand and shallow, calm waters. You'll find a selection of hotels and villas directly on or very close to the beach, offering easy access to the sea. The main road running parallel to the beach connects the various accommodations, tavernas, and beach bars.

Couples looking for a relaxing beach holiday will find Xi ideal. The tranquil environment and natural beauty of the red sand beach provide a great backdrop for unwinding. Many accommodations here offer stunning sea views and direct beach access, making it convenient for leisurely days by the water.

Families with young children also find Xi particularly appealing. The shallow, gentle waters of the beach are great for little ones to paddle and play in, and the soft sand is great for building sandcastles.

When is the best time to go to Xi?

The best time to go to Xi is during the shoulder seasons of May, June, September, and early October.

These months offer pleasant weather, with warm temperatures great for swimming and sunbathing without the intense heat and crowds of mid-summer. You'll find the beaches less busy, and it's easier to secure bookings for popular restaurants and activities. The sea is also warm enough for comfortable swimming.

For those who prefer the quietest experience and cooler temperatures, late April and late October can also be appealing.
