John Muir Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"Parking for guests was limited but we had no issue parking in spots in the times we arrived. The attentiveness of the staff and amenities in the lodge were great. Coffee, games, tables and chairs, mini store, water filling station were great. The room was perfect for this time of year not needing air conditioning. "
"One entrance to the parking lot was a gigantic pothole. The stairs were unsafe. The room was dirty. The chair was covered with dirt and dust. We had to cover it with a towel before we could sit on it. The table rocked back and forth if we leaned against or placed something on it. There were cobwebs on the ceiling. The linen was stained. We had to clean the ice bucket prior to using it then we had to throw away the ice because it had a dead bug in it. No one works at the desk till 3 pm if you have a question. But the lady that checked us in was very friendly and helpful. "
"Clean and quiet, but lots of deferred maintenance and shoddy workmanship. Loose plumbing, peeling paint, etc. Looks nice in pictures, not as good in real life."
"Everything about this Lodge was great. The staff were amazing. It is difficult getting unloaded from your car due to the hill you need to climb with luggage. The staff was there to help and there are luggage racks. I wish we had been on the main floor of our building as we did need to climb a flight of staff with our gear. The only other disappointment was that again I had to deal with a Keurig machine, I just don't like them at all. They are such a waste and I believe environmentally unsound. I believe the inventor said as much. Also, these new baths are pretty but made to be very slippery. And, no grab bars in this or many hotels."
