Imagine nothing more idyllic than relaxing here, watching cruisers and yachts gliding below. Nestled between the lake to the west and scenic mountain trails to the east, Old Belfield is the ideal base for discovering all the beauty and adventure the Lake District has to offer. As evening falls, the cobbled streets of Bowness come alive with inviting restaurants serving global cuisine and traditional pubs offering live music and local ales—all just a short stroll away. By day, the bustling village brims with boutique stores, climbing and gift shops, art galleries, and attractions such as the ever-popular World of Beatrix Potter. Old Belfield is a charming Grade II listed cottage dating back to 1800, tastefully furnished to reflect its period character. The lounge serves as the heart of the home, featuring an ornate ceiling, a leather L-shaped sofa around a Smart TV and wood-burning stove, and two swivel armchairs in the window where you can gaze out onto the surrounding woodland—home to an array of wildlife and birds. The galley kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed to prepare a family meal, including an electric oven, gas hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, and microwave. We enjoyed sitting in the lounge window watching the birds and the squirrel. The weather was nice enough to enjoy a glass of wine on the patio. It was a bit too warm to light the stove, but next time. We walked into Bowness on Windermere and had a meal out, lots of choice, it was handy being walking distance, both of us could have a drink and not worry about who was driving home. The view from the main bedroom down over the lake is lovely, and watching the tree tops from the bed makes you feel a bit like your in a treehouse. Really enjoyed our stay and hope to be back soon. ---
