About this property

Claybottom Farm, Caldbeck - in a rural setting with fell walks from the door

  • Claybottom Farm Caldbeck is a traditional 17th century longhouse farm cottage located midway between the pretty villages of Hesket Newmarket and Caldbeck. Nestled into the slopes of the Caldbeck Fells the cottage enjoys a truly peaceful, idyllic rural location at the end of a ¾ mile lane. With original characterful features the cottage provided homely accommodation with superb views over the cottage garden to the nearby fells. The area is a haven for wildlife with fellside walks from the door with stunning vistas from the fell tops towards the Solway Firth with Scotland beyond and across to Bassenthwaite Lake, just a 20 minute drive away. The villages of Caldbeck and Hesket Newmarket each have a friendly village pub, cafe; and shop and the market town of Penrith and city of Carlisle are both less than a half hours drive with shops, pubs, restaurants and take aways.

The cottage has a breakfast room where the light floods in through the windows framing the view across the garden to High Pike and the Caldbeck fells. The kitchen is equipped with everything needed to rustle up a family feast with a Rayburn cooker, an electric hob in a centre island, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker and an American style fridge/freezer. The light and airy garden room has views to High Pike and the Caldbeck fells with comfy seating around the TV and a piano. Retreat to the cosy snug with flagged stone floors and wood burning stove with a good book or relax in front of the TV catching up with the latest shows. The ground floor cloakroom adds convenience.

Sandstone steps lead to a beamed master bedroom with super king size bed (can convert to twin beds on request) and ensuite bathroom with walk in shower and vanity unit. To the side is a'Baby room' with cot for the youngest members of the party. There are 2 further bedrooms, one with a king size bed the other with a double and single bed suitable for a child only all promising a restful nights sleep. Shower room with hand basin and WC.

All oil, electric, bed linen and towels provided. Cot available. Ample private parking. Cottage garden with access to the fells.

What a location! Peace and quiet and views straight up to the fells.

Lovely spacious well-equipped farmhouse with amazing views up to the fells. Great place to relax in comfort, with a beautiful garden and walks from the door. Enjoyed seeing the local fell ponies nearby. Good local facilities- pubs, cafes, village shops and a milk shed with vending machines for local produce. Would happily move in tomorrow!
