In 1892, Henry Shaffer discovered silver deposits in the area, with the help of local American Indians. The resulting mining efforts led to the creation of the town of White Hills, which reportedly grew to a population of 1,500. The mines consisted of 27 miles (43 km) of tunnels, and a full fifteen mines were being worked within one mile (1.6 km) of the town. In 1894, the White Hills Mining Company was formed to run the operations, but they sold out in 1895 for a price of $1,500,000. The new owners, part of an English company, constructed a 40-stamp mill in the town. However, water had to be piped in from 7 miles (11 km) away, and the supply was never able to meet the mine and mill's demands. "Starwalk was absolutely lovely, and I would definitely there again, but I would go in late spring or early fall when the weather is milder. I got pretty toasty at times trying to make sure I didn't drain the solar battery by using the AC too much. The host was easy to contact and responsive. Check in and check out were a breeze. Overall, I had a great experience. It was so quiet out there, and the night sky was stunning! Off grid living all of the time is not for me, but every once in a while, it's nice to go off grid and have a break from city life."

"Communication was great!!Rv was very comfortable, outdoor games we enjoyed as a family.The dark skys were awesome. The stars were bright.Word of advice is it gets cold in the evening and hot during the day.Also it was a super easy commute to the Hoover Dam We would totally stay here again and recommend to others.
