This proPerty has a security deposit of £150.. With the beach just a stone’s throw away, this lovely cottage is built on the site that was once known as the Old Smoke Houses. Where back in the days of old, the freshly caught sea food was smoked to preserve it as well as to give it a distinct flavour. Most of the surrounding old town of Whitby has changed very little over the centuries, making the route to the cottage down the cobbles lined with little independent cafés and shops, as well as olde world pubs, a charming experience almost like stepping back in time. Whitby captures the heart of many of its guests with its fascinating seafaring history as well as its photogenic views.
Stepping inside Nan’s Cottage you are welcomed into the open plan living area, here you have a gas wood burner in front of the sofas ensuring you have atmospheric, cosy nights in. The kitchen is thoughtfully well equipped, so that you can enjoy home cooked meals in the dining area whenever you wish. The ground floor also benefits from the added convenience of a toilet. On the first floor you have a second living area, this snug boast fabulous views of the beach, the piers as well as the sea beyond. There is a second TV in this room as well as a sofa bed for flexible sleeping. There is a beautifully presented twin bedroom on this floor as well as walk-in rainforest shower. On the second floor you have a super kingsize bedroom with elevated breath-taking views over the town, harbour, and sea, as well as a second shower room, there is flagstone flooring throughout the property which provide a cool and refreshing feeling enviroment.
You can watch the world go by from the cottage, with boats sailing out into the open sea, and people exploring the opposite west cliff with the Captain Cook Monument and the whale bone archway. Throughout all of the seasons the views are captivating, watch in awe as the waves crash and foam from the warmth and calm of this haven or be enticed outside when the sun’s rays sparkle on the seas surface. Throughout the day the tides ebb and flow revealing the beach just 150 yards away. Tate Hill Sands were according to Bram Stoker is where Dracula arrived, when a ship of deceased sailors crashed onto the shore and in the form of a dog Dracula fled the ships ruins and raced up the nearby 199 steps to the iconic gothic Whitby Abbey perched on the headland. From here he had panoramic views and could choose his next victims. Many guests love the dark stories that surround Whitby, from Dracula to the ghost walks, and the annual Goth Weekends draw thousands of visitors from around the world. For history lovers there is much to see and do, with museums including Captain Cook’s and the Lifeboat’s. Plus, along this heritage coastline you can find many fossils as well as the precious black jet, which is used to create beautiful unique jewellery here. Explore further by taking a ride on the steam train out into the North York Moors National Park or follow the coastline to discover some of the wonderful bays and coastal villages including Robin Hoods Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes.
