Nice hotel, but my room was terrible

Posted 09-Jan-2018
Pros: Location
Cons: I will specify on my next booking not to have a disable access room as I tend to struggle having a comfortable staying in them.
Location: There is a Tesco's express down the road and a large entertainment complex next door.
I was allocated an disabled access room on the 5th floor. The room is badly designed. There is a lot of empty space in the room which made it very cold and the heating was not adequate. The shower did not work very well and splashed water everywhere except on me. The mirror facing the bed was off-putting which lead to me sleeping with my head at the foot of the bed. On the whole not a great experience, breakfast was good through.

Short winter break

Posted 16-Dec-2017
Lovely hotel. Good sized room and bathroom. Room cold a lot of the time. Window didn't close fully, so allowed a draft and outside noise. Very thin duvet, no blankets in the room. Lovely breakfast. Warm in the dining area. Great location.

We’ve stayed in many holiday inns but sadly this was the worst. The staff were lovely but the room was noisy due to a substation being outside & lots of humming from 4am. The room was clean but very ‘clinical’. The ‘ambience’ was just wrong!

Well located

Hotel, well located for the ‘Armouries’ & only £5 taxi journey into Leeds. The facilities at hotel were good for money paid. The room was looking a little tired. Quiet location.

Nice surrounding area.

Nice area. Suspect staines on the room sofa. Random small, curly hair on the bed sheet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice and plentiful. Beer at the bar there was a little pricey. Probably would stay there again but would hope for a different room.

Great night's sleep

Posted 30-Oct-2017
Pros: How comfy the bed was.
Cons: Soundproofing the noisy guests : P
Location: Great central location.
Great one night stay, though as one of the cheaper hotels it can get rowdy on Friday/Saturday nights. Fortunately I was towards the end of a corridor and came prepared with ear plugs. The bed was SO comfortable I had the best night's sleep in ages, and the buffet breakfast gave plenty of choice. Will definitely stay again.

Pros: Nothing
Check in was accomplished swiftly but with no pleasantries. The room was scruffy - it looked as though a dog had scrabbled at the base of one of the beds - the fabric was torn on all four corners. There was a leak in the bathroom next to the toilet which looked as though it had been there some while - after using the toilet, liquid oozed up through the tiling on the floor (we only noticed it in the morning and reported it to reception, who gave us a reduction on the room rate). During the evening, we asked if we could have a second chair in the room, as we both wished to use the desk, and were first told they didn't have any and then that it was against fire regulations! We have stayed in hotels worldwide and this was obviously a very stupid lie but we were too tired to argue. We stayed the following night at Mercure hotels in Wetherby and York, which were substantially cheaper and very much better. This Leeds hotel was extremely poor value.
