I've stayed here multiple times and it just seems to get a little worse every time. The shower was terrible. The shower head was so corroded and plugged up barely any water came out. There was also a lot of random hairs in the shower. The beds are not comfortable at all. The pool is always under repair and the "fitness center" is not functional. Unfortunately, it's one of only 2 hotels in town and the other one is worse.

This was perfect for what I needed. It was inexpensive, clean, comfortable, and everyone was very nice. It was nice to have a microwave and fridge. For some reason, many hotels are getting away from that.

It needs updating! The website claims a pool and exercise area, both of which have been closed for at least two years. The first thing you see as you enter the hotel are gaming machines which isn't inviting to me. It is a two-story hotel but does not have an elevator. It would be nice to let the guests know that ahead of making their reservation. A towel was frayed. Water pressure in the sink was strong, but in the shower was weak. Breakfast choices are only "so, so" and the refrigerator with milk, etc. has had a broken seal for over a year. Hotel choices in the area are very limited, that's why we continue to go back to Horizon, but we had a water leak issue 6 months ago, with water on our bathroom floor and the carpeting outside the bathroom. During this visit a ladder was right outside our door with more issues being addressed in the ceiling of the hallway. We are considering traveling back and forth 40 miles in order to have better accommodations and still visit with my 95 year old mom.

The Horizon Inn is under new management and they have signs all over the walls and doors telling the guests what is permitted. It does not feel warm and welcoming like it has in the past. Breakfast food is only served in the dining room. I have never been to a hotel where they will not allow guests to take food to your room to eat. It is NOT a buffet. The food included was eggs, sausage and biscuits and gravy. I was stopped by the front desk staff to not take the food to my room. The pool is closed for construction and the gym looked like it was under construction also. The new management needs to work on their customer service especially for this midwestern community.

Check-in was fairly smooth, although it appeared the gentleman who checked us in was new, so it took a little bit more them than normal. We didn't receive a warm and fuzzy welcome and seemed to be a bit of an inconvenience to take them away from their work. Upon check-in we noticed extreme humidity. I noticed a dehumidifier in the hallway, however the entire room was damp. (This was entire hotel, not just our room.) The room seemed fairly clean upon first glance, however the bedding had dirty spots that we noticed later and the bathroom floor wasn't super clean. The pool area was closed/boarded up which would have been nice to know in advance. Breakfast was below average as well for a hotel offering the free service. They did have waffles, sausage and gravy, cereal, bagels, and bread. There were eggs in the refrigerator that you had to warm up yourself. Coffee cups were mini sized which I also felt was off. We just just grabbed coffee and went to the local coffee shop in town for breakfast, as we don't expect a gourmet meal at these places. In summary, it was not terrible, however I would not run back to stay here. The cleanliness was not to a standard that it should be. (They did knock on our door to see if we needed anything, but didn't come in to clean our room. We were not given any soap so we asked for that and clean towels.) Customer services was also below a standard that it should be.
