This is a lovely B&B. It is an easy 20 minute drive from Christchurch Airport, yet so quiet and peaceful. Andrew and Christine are very welcoming hosts and we enjoyed our conversation over breakfast. The guests’ lounge is comfortable and guests can make hot drinks at any time. Set in beautiful gardens. Highly recommended.
Quiet world, location, good communication with a couple. Our understanding of B&B was bed-and-breakfast, but there was no breakfast. Perhaps here in New Zealand. It doesn’t mean the same thing as it does to us in the US.Still a pleasant stay
the hosts were so friendly and helpful. they really went above and beyond to ensure i had the best possible stay. very clean and comfortable room and facilities, beautiful garden and there’s a very friendly little dog!
Host were very friendly and welcoming, accommodating our late arrival, so thank you. Arranged breakfast for us even though we didn’t pre-arrange. Place was beautifully clean. Use googlemaps to find the place if arriving in the dark. Would recommend to anyone.
Christine and Andrew have a beautiful property and they are friendly and gracious hosts. If we visit the area again, which I am hopeful for, we will definitely stay with them again!
A pleasant comfortable stay with a lovely outlook onto a large garden.
Andrew was very helpful, no problem to drop us to our function and collect us afterwards.
The place suited us for a one night stay. Very clear and tidy. We had to supply our own milk for tea and although the room advertised to sleep 3 we had to pay $25 dollars extra for a bed for my granddaughter which was placed at the foot of our bed
The Driveway to this BnB is gated and was told we would receive a TXT with the gate code on the day of check in
NO CODE was received, went back twice to try and get in, only had the contact email for Hotels.com site tried to make contact with no success, late afternoon found alternate accommodation to use, requested refund and at that point received a TXT to say we had not turned up at all and was called a liar ? I described the next door neighbors dog who came to the fence to greet us, we were there twice, have taken my money and not supplied a service, refused our request to refund monies paid.
I felt it was a little unusual place to stay, we have never stayed in a b&b before so I am not sure if the experience was normal.
We booked the family room, not quite sure what made this the family room. It was just a bed and side tables no tv or sitting area. ( there was a nice community area though no tvs anywhere though).
We booked a room that included breakfast, then received a txt that stated breakfast is extra
$15 pp. Don’t get me wrong this room was very cheap so can understand if they charge for breakfast but seems a bit misleading that you charge extra and pay cash or bank transfers when you believe that is part of the package. I didn’t question that with the hosts but declined the $15 breakfast.
I was told by another guest that there was a extra charge to use the spa pool so didn’t bother with that either. But to be honest I wouldn’t have booked there if o had known these details, They seemed polite hosts, with firm boundaries.
I will not be staying with B&B after this experience, just an uncomfortable feel staying at someone’s house, but that maybe just my feeling.
Tucked away in the moddle of seemingly nowhere, this place was eerily quiet. Not a single sign of life, and the place almost had an er of having been abandoned with how tired some of the features appeared. For example, there was an abandoned looking tennis court on property that had a puppy tethered to a hut, next to a very hard to find spa that was tucked behind some shrubbery that didnt look taken care of. The room itself was out dated and had spider webs in the curtains. Not a single tv or fan to be found anywhere. This place was overall eerie and didnt sit well with my wife and I as we had left a light on in the hallway on purpose, and the only sign of life was it was turned off when we woke up very early to leave at 4am. The property was pitch black inside and out at that time of the morning, with the light switches in the common room being impossible to find, so it was very difficult to get loaded up.
Newlands B&B was a lovely haven of peace after the hectic traffic of Christchurch.
Christine and Andrew were the perfect hosts and we were lucky enough to have an area of their house all to ourselves.
Highly Recommended.
