West Hollywood

Recognised as a creative and artistic hub, this historic Californian city has many famous areas, including the Sunset Strip.

Visit West Hollywood for art galleries and iconic nightspots. Admire public artworks as you shop in a large outdoor mall. This area is also known for its famous bars and music venues, including The Viper Room and the House of Blues, which closed after 21 years on the Strip.

Attend a range of festivals and events throughout the year, including One City One Pride in May. Visit the hangouts of Hollywood celebrities, such as Formosa Café.

Admire the bright colourful billboards on the Sunset Strip. This iconic 1.5-mile (2.4-kilometre) section of Sunset Boulevard stretches between West Hollywood’s east and west borders. People-watch in famous bars and restaurants and wander along the strip and enjoy the atmosphere.

Enjoy alfresco dining at the Sunset Plaza. This area on the Sunset Strip is known for its retail stores, beauty salons and cafés. Shop for fine jewellery and high-end clothing in a boutique fashion store. Treat yourself to a massage or manicure in a salon.

See the Schindler House, a building designed by the famous architect Rudolph Schindler. This house was built as an experiment in communal living and completed in the early 20th century. The building is considered a masterpiece of early modern architecture and now houses the MAK Centre for Art and Architecture.

Discover ambitious and thought-provoking artwork in numerous art galleries including De Re Gallery, Gallery Go and 101/exhibit.

Explore the West Hollywood Design District for some of the best shopping in the city. Admire work from international fashion designers in beautiful shopfronts. This tree-lined district is known for its concentration of more than 300 high-end stores and its influence on international design.

Find West Hollywood about 12 miles (19 kilometres) from Los Angeles International airport. The city features a wide range of luxurious boutique hotels and less expensive inns.

If travelling in late October, be sure to attend West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval, one of the largest Halloween street parties in the United States.
