Nice hotel in the Little Tokyo part of downtown LA. There is a small out door mall (all Japanese stores). The area seems safe but it is just a couple blocks north of Skid Row (run down area where most of the homeless population lives). The lobby/entrance area is small but has the feel of a 4star hotel The rooms/hallways give more of a 3star vibe. Everyone comments about the bidets, I pushed the buttons on mine just to check it out but it never did anything. I guess I got the broken one but I didn't really care to try it out. The valet service was good one price, per day, and come and go as often as you want and it is about half the cost of other hotels in the downtown area $22 vs $45). I just needed it for a night and did not make use of any of the hotel amenities so I can't comment on them. If you're only looking for a place to stay, not a bad choice.
For the mall directly behind the hotel: We sat outside of a little restaurant for dinner and in a 2 hour window had 4 different people come into the fenced in area for outside dinning asking for money. One guy just said "excuse me, let me sing for you" and started singing. Very rude when it was obvious that we were trying to ignore them and have a private conversation.
If you are looking for a rocknroll experience this is the place. It is located in downtown LA so expect small rooms, but the place is really cool and the staff super friendly, and we had our puppy stay with us.. He loved it too.
Prime downtown location and generous public spaces (wonderful lower lobby for reading and work) offset aging that appears occasionally. Smaller rooms and less polish that newer spots, gym and in-room HVAC not up to standard, but special touches - like the embroidered peacock chair in my room added warmth and practicality often missing. Staff welcoming and helpful.
Enjoyed the hotel and location. One negative is the room 340 is directly above the garbage dumpsters. Between 6:45am and 7:00am on Wednesday they were outside banging them around. I was in a deep sleep and woke up due to all the noise. If this is a once a week occurrence than they shouldn't put people in that room on garbage day.
the hotel located in a great place. close to the "staple center". have a good parking service (40$ a day).
the staff was very nice and helpful. they helped us with an extra bad in the room, with recommendation to good restaurants, and everything we asked. the room is well equipped. big, nice and a have a great bathroom.

Right in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, exciting, upscale entertainment hub, where the action at Staples Center meets the …More
We were there for concert at Staples Center for New Years Eve. Picked based on location to Staples. Valet parking on site and had no problems with that. Wifi did not work in room for my iphone so that was disappointing.I booked this a year ago and was worried about more recent reviews of location. My surprise was bedding had been updated from the pictures on site.(no more bedspreads). Beds were very comfortable and room had table and two chairs. Air conditioning was a little noisy but didn't bother me.My only issue was with the maids. Our room was near elevator on 6th floor and they clean the rooms with the doors open and chattering the whole time. No sleep for you since this starts at 8am. Everyone that worked there was friendly and spoke English. We did not eat at hotel restaraunts. Snack machines and drinks in lobby area. Area was clean and we never felt unsafe as two women traveling alone.
