About this property
1895 Victorian home featured in
An immaculately renovated 1895 Victorian home that was featured in a before and after on Country Living magazine's website. This house has a warm, cozy vibe with original hardwood floors, updated kitchen and bathrooms, tasteful furnishings and a giant back porch for catching the evening breeze. Enjoy the blend of old and new, such as exposed ship lap walls in the dining room and authentic molding throughout against the modern conveniences of a Bosch dishwasher and a Whirlpool washer and dryer. It's perfect for any type of getaway you need — a girls' weekend, a couple's getaway, or anyone interested in what it's really like to live right in the heart of a small Texas town.
Aside from its charm, it is 1/4 mile from all that downtown Waxahachie has to offer. You can meander down to the College Street Pub for a cold beer, live music, and tasty English fare. Or head to Farmluck for lunch and something sweet from their old fashioned soda fountain. Or grab a glass of wine at Cork Haus. If you want a taste of Dallas, head just 20 minutes north on 35 to the Bishop Arts District to eat modern Southern fair at Hattie's.
This home is family friendly and features an upstairs playroom stocked with toys. A pack-n-play is available on request. The home is also within walking distance to Waxahachie's newest splash park, as well as a newly finished playground at the Presbyterian church, just a short walk down Oldham Street.

Such a great house and Katherine is a wonderful host! This is our second time staying there and will definitely be back. We love being walking distance to family but being able to have our own space too while visiting.
The property is charming, spacious, clean, comfortable and fully equipped for cooking, laundry, bathing and entertainment. Walkable neighborhood and close to the town square. We'll be back!
Such a sweet home which made our stay so special. We loved the historic charm, comfort and cleanliness of the property. It is central to visiting Waxahachie and the surrounding areas! Our host was very responsive and accommodating to our needs for our stay! During our next visit to Waxahachie, we hope to stay in this property again!
We had a wonderful stay in this lovely historical home. A nice retreat between wedding events we were in Waxahachie to attend. Katherine was a wonderful host, check in was easy and we had everything we needed to make it a great stay.
The house is amazing- eclectic, light and airy! The street is so sweet. Both are like going back in time. It is so close to the downtown square, restaurants and activities that you can walk without any worries. We have rented this home before and plan to do so again!
The home was very nostalgic. Old timey, feeling like a different time. Kitchen pans could use an upgrade. The pan coatings are damaged. Overall, the kitchen was well maintained. Great water pressure in the showers with a very nice bathtub. The home worked great for our 4-year-old and 10-month-old boys. May want to add a baby gate for the upstairs for young ones playing in the kids play area. We would stay here again. Very close to the downtown Waxahachie area, within walking distance.
This property had everything we needed and more. The beds were very comfortable, it was impeccably clean, and the property itself is in such a pleasant area. The house has retained its historical charm, and we went for a nice walk each day, complete with neighborhood cats. Only a short walk to town, too. Our host was wonderful, very communicative, and it really was a wonderful experience. A plus that the kitchen has a gas stove and was well stocked with a large fridge and freezer. Consider bringing a large pot if cooking for many, but otherwise we did not need a thing. Thank you, Katherine!
Unfortunately we only had two days to spend at this wonderful house. I would love to have stayed longer and will definitely consider staying here again. The house is very lovely, in a quiet neighborhood and close to many restaurants and other sites. The host was excellent in her communication with us, and we would certainly recommend this property to everyone. Great stay!
Very neat and clean. Lots of rooms…. a place for everyone to relax. Lots of care taken in decorating..kept its vintage style but modern conveniences. Had everything we needed.
Traveled for a wedding. Even in the summer it is so centrally located we could walk anywhere we want in the quaint downtown area. Quiet street. Excellent charm. Recommend.
We book this house every year. Katherine is an awesome host. The house is always very welcoming and a cozy stay. Our favorite place is the wrap around back porch and the scenery in the backyard. This place is perfect everytime. We can't wait for next year!
We met friends here for a fun weekend in Waxahachie. The house was great - very clean, close to downtown. It has one bed/bath and a powder room downstairs; upstairs is another bedroom with two queen beds and a third bedroom with a queen bed. There is a second full bath upstairs. There are two separate sitting rooms, a full kitchen, and a sweet little library room. LOTS of great books to pull from if you need a book break!
Loved every nook of this house! Beautifully decorated and so much character. My girlfriend and I were running the Hachie 50 and our husbands were our support crew. The house is perfectly situated, just walking distance to restaurants and shops and had all the touches of home if you want to stay in and cook. Katherine was wonderful and super responsive. Book it now! You won’t regret it!
Stayed here again this year. Great historic house in downtown Waxahachie TX. We come for the Truck Show in the park. Walking distance to downtown square and restaurants, shopping, antiquing. Quiet neighborhood. Plenty of birds, squirrels, cats etc. running around making it fun. We even took critter treats with us this time to watch the fun. Truck show, like everything else is just blocks away. If we attend the show again next year, we'll be staying here again.
Beautiful, immaculately clean historic Victorian home, charmingly decorated, and exceedingly homey and comfortable. Home is well stocked and kitchen is ready for food preparation for those who enjoy cooking. Master bed is very comfortable and low step-in shower is convenient for those unable to navigate the deep soaking tub. Home is 2000 sq. ft. In size with interesting rooms like a study/ library on first floor and playroom upstairs. Host is equally warm and charming and Checkin / Checkout smooth and easy. Thus home is at the top of our favorites and we will love returning again. Thank you, Katherine, our dear & sweet host.
If you’re looking for the perfect blend of historic charm and modern convenience, look no further than this listing! The moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by warm, original hardwood floors and tasteful décor that both honors the home’s storied past and indulges in contemporary comforts. From the inviting exposed ship lap walls in the dining room to the meticulously preserved molding, every detail exudes character and charm. Yet the home remains wonderfully up-to-date, offering everything from a Bosch dishwasher in the remodeled kitchen to a Whirlpool washer and dryer. We really enjoyed having a morning cup of coffee on the giant back porch and curling up in a cozy nook with a good book. We felt right at home.Location-wise, you can’t beat being just a quarter mile from all the delights of downtown Waxahachie. We strolled over to College Street Pub for a beer and live music and had a great time! This home is also wonderfully suited for families. The upstairs playroom brims with toys to keep little ones busy! We really enjoyed our stay!
We booked our stay here about 2 years ago for a family trip from the UK to experience the total eclipse.
Katherine was very attentive and answered all queries promptly, advising on things to do etc in the area.
The house is lovely, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. It had a great porch with a swing chair and rocking chair out front and decking out the back where you can sit and eat in the evening. The house is in easy walking distance of Waxahachie, which is a lovely little town.
I would say though, that the trains that run through the town, blaring their horns at night are extremely loud. Even wearing ear plugs and using a white noise machine, we could still hear them. The first night we were there we had been awake for nearly 24 hours travelling, and got such a fright when they woke us several times in the night, as it doesn't mention them on the property listing.
The wifi is also very slow and at times non existent and you really need some blackout curtains in the attic room. Having said all this, we had a lovely time and enjoyed our stay.
We had an awesome stay at this VRBO in Waxahachie! The house was super roomy for our family of five. The kids loved the playroom, and the big backyard was perfect for hanging out. The décor was so cute and totally fit the old Victorian vibe. The host was great, too. We had a little issue with the kitchen sink, and they came over the same day and fixed it! Very responsive and made the house feel like a home away from home. Honestly, 10/10. We’d definitely stay here again next time we’re in Waxahachie!
