"This is a unique property! A bit 'out of the way' but is serene and with great views because of it. Still, it is not far at all from the centre of the small town. It is sort of a converted farm with some rooms in each of three buildings one of which has reception and the restaurant. At first approach one might think, oh my, what have I booked! Is this some old run down property? But then when you see what it really is one might think the opposite - that it is like some very high end lodge....

"Perfect Experience. Staff at reception when we arrived was super nice. She went out of her way to help us with plates and lighter (as we wanted to celebrate my wife's birthday), so was super happy with her. "Excellent hotel, very traditional decor inline with its vast history. Great location on the train platform and next to the gondola. Free bus outside to Myrkdalen resort( great place for beginners to cross country and alpine skiing) very clean with amazing food. Helpful and friendly staff make sure you stay is comfortable. Spa facilities were fantastic as well. In the room the only thing was there was no coat hooks to hang outdoor coats. Electric Towel rail in the bathroom didn’t seem to work but this wasn’t an issue as there was under floor heating so things dried. "

"Very friendly and courteous staff! It was cold outside but the room was lovely and cozy warm. Nice dinner and my breakfast was included. It is right next to the ferry dock in Gudvangen. In the morning, after breakfast I walked over to the Viking Village and did a tour there… very interesting and worth doing. The bus stop was no more than a 10 minute walk from Fjordtel and I jumped on the bus to Bergen. Thank you for your hospitality Gudvangen Fjordtel!"

"Of our 2 weeks in Norway, this was our least favorite stay. The beds were tucked away upon arrival, so we had to set up and put bedding on beds. Made sense though, because when set up, there is no room to walk to use bathroom, kitchenette or balcony. The beds were not comfortable and the pool wasn’t working, so we didn’t enjoy our visit."

"Staying in this incredible home in Finnabotn was the highlight of our Norway vacation. This "secret" branch of the Sognefjord offers a truly authentic, off-the-grid experience. There is no road access so we rented a boat—the only way to get here—through Vik Adventures and the journey itself was part of the adventure, a scenic 25 to 45-minute ride on the fjord from Vikøyri, depending on conditions.The home itself is a quiet, rustic retreat with some modern updates, preserved to maintain its historical features as part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The scenery is absolutely stunning, with enormous waterfalls serving as a backdrop. We spent our time exploring the area, hiking to the top of the mountain where the waterfalls begin, and enjoying the wild berries. We boated to Balestrand for dinner one night. Every evening, we'd sit on the dock listening to the sounds of the falls. This is a perfect escape for anyone looking for an authentic, off-the-beaten-path experience.
