The view is incredible! The pool is amazing and the kitchen lacks for nothing. The location at the top of the hill is very private. The only visitors we had were horses. We can't say enough about the property manager also. We had just a simple issue of the bathroom light not working and he immediately addressed it with a brand new fixture installation. It’s perfect! We left behind some extra pool/ocean floats for next guests to enjoy, but there are several more in the outside storage bin. Aurelio, the property manager, is great. The sky at night is dark and great for star gazing from the deck or pool. Lots of shooting stars. Well-equipped kitchen- everything you need, as well as gas and charcoal grills. It’s nicely located in a residential neighborhood with nice views to the south from the deck near the pool. It’s pretty central, so convenient for getting to either side of the island. We rented a Jeep and were glad for it- the driveway is pretty steep, but there is plenty of space at the top to park and even turn around. It was the perfect size for two people, though I think it would definitely be tight quarters with more than that. The pool was great to have, and very refreshing. It’s in the shade during the afternoon, which is actually a nice break from the sun if you’ve been at the beach all day. We really appreciated the beach chairs and cooler (there was a larger hard sided one and a soft sided zip cooler that was a bit more practical). We didn’t do a lot of cooking, but did use it for breakfasts and a night in when we had a lot of leftovers. Kitchen was well stocked, we definitely could have used it more! Let start by pictures really don't do the view you have justice. This property is at the top of a good size hill and over the wall of the porch is your stunning view of the nature preserve (vast area) with an ocean view in the distance. Since being on the edge of this area its quiet but you will hear plenty of birds (the peacocks are very frequent), frogs and occasionally see horses on the road. Few houses line the driveway up the hill but its still very private. You will definitely need a 4wd vehicle to make it up the driveway especially if it rains but once at the top, its all flat walking area. They definitely have though of everything too to make your stay very comfortable too. We stayed 10 magicial days and loved every minute. If you are looking for a very adventurous and unforgettable trip, you found it. Book the house, book the 4WD vehicle and be prepared for true paradise adventure exploring pristine, remote beaches, rainforest areas, bioluminescent bay tours (brightest in the world for a reason), beach horseback rides and fantastic food. It is not luxurious but it has everything you need. I am already trying to decide when to come back. I spent half of my week working from the table next to the pool (and taking a dip regularly to cool off) and half of my week touring, and this was the perfect set up for me. When I arrived in the afternoon and had to take the extremely worn out road and insanely steep driveway, I thought I would never want to do the drive again, but I did it two more times that night (even in the rain!) and I got used to it. The road needs to be re-paved so badly it is much worse than the steep driveway - but you do need a four-wheel drive to get around the island and to get up the driveway if it rains. The location is central - easy to get to town or Esperanza. You can't actually see the biobay but the views of the nature preserve during the day and at sunset are gorgeous and it's a nice and quiet neighborhood, with just the frogs at night. The place cools down quickly, especially if you leave the windows closed during the heat of the day, but the bathroom never really gets cool. I basically never turned the a/c on in the main house even when I was home during the days I worked -- the fans kept it cool enough and there is plenty of shade outside. This home is secluded, quiet, and has all the comforts of home. When you arrive the driveway is quite STEEP, so the rental of a Jeep, or SUV is highly recommended. When you turn the corner to park beside the house, you are suddenly in a private courtyard overlooking the southern coast, excited to begin your getaway. We were greeted by the housekeeper, who maintains the property. He showed us around, gave us the keys, and left us for our vacation. This house has a wall AC unit in the main space, which we did not use. There is a mini-split AC unit in the bedroom where we kept the door closed and maintained only one area at a desirable temperature. We found ourselves out exploring most of the day and would come back to the house late afternoon to cool off in the pool, and in the wonderful shade of the surrounding trees until dinner, where we would go visit the local restaurants. The house has everything you need to go to the local grocery and cook on the stove, or outdoor BBQ… but we wanted to taste the island, so we only used the kitchen sparingly. The bathroom was updated not too long ago and has a great feel. There is also a private outdoor shower that was convenient for when we came back from the beach, or in & out of the pool. If I had any “downfalls” of this location, it would be personal preferences that may not be a concern for others. The bed felt good ##### ty s. The size of the Bungalow was perfect for two people. Air conditioning worked very well and the mattress was comfortable for great sleeping; I’m pretty picky about mattresses. There were a couple options for our perfect cup of morning coffee. The pool deck and porch areas have such comfortable lounge chairs and seats that 3 out of 7 days we just stayed at the house until dinner time. Many restaurants are within a 15 minute drive. Stove and microwave made preparing a breakfast or warming leftovers easy. The bungalow is surrounded by tall, well kept bushes and trees making the pool area and outdoor shower very private and secluded. Tucked away on a hill, overlooking the beaches, and it’s above the hill top. Only a 10 minute drive to all main beaches, if you’ve made this venture this far out-one must visit the Bioluminescent Bay and Playa Negra (the walk is well worth it).
