Fortunately as geologists, we enjoyed, one night, being able to see a distant lava flow.Thanks for the delicious cake on arrival and wine from the vineyard, we enjoyed so much we ordered a couple of extra bottles.The villa was as advertised and perfectly appointed. We enjoyed using the pool a few times. The location on the outskirts of the town suited us, having a hire car, we were able to use some local restaurants and shops including the artisan deli 'dal 1926'. Thr owners were wonderful. The property is surrounded by vineyards and the grapes were abundant. The house is beautiful, clean and charming. Staying there was one of our best memories of Sicily. We would highly recommend it! The owners shared their wine and a delicious orange cake--they were wonderful hosts. The home is on a large estate overlooking Mount Etna. The views are spectacular. We ate all our meals outside on the deck. Everything about this property is 5 star! ##### Joan B. The house was very clean, the view astonishing and the hospitality of the family was great. They gave us very good tips for beaches and restaurants, brought us a lovely homemade cake and gave us very good red wine from their own vineyard. We use VRBO often when we travel. We have had very good experiences where the place was as advertised. This experience at Viagrande exceeded our expectations! The home is lovely and the view of Mt. Etna was stunning! Our hosts were wonderful, even leaving us a bottle of wine from their winery and an orange cake Gae had made. Their winery is lovely and the vineyard peaceful. Our stay at Dietro Sierra was lovely! We were greeted by the owners Gae & Michele upon our arrival at this beautiful home. Gae baked us such a delicious cake and the tastiest bottle of wine which was the sweetest gesture and made us feel at home. The house was so clean and well kept. There was everything you needed including kitchen utilities, fresh towels and all that you could think of. Shampoo and soaps & even a nice cold bottle of water in the fridge. To every last detail. We were amazed by the excellent hospitality of Gae & Michele. The area was simply blissful, amazing views of Etna, beautiful vineyards surrounding the house and endless gardens. We didn't want to come home after staying at Dietro Serra. Thank you so so much Gae & Michele for taking care of us and for making our holiday memorable and a home we will definitely be coming back too!! See you soon!! 😊😊 ##### Sparkle L. Lovely modern house, well appointed about 2km from centre of Viagrande, which has shops, supermarkets, restaurants etc. Although not a particularly attractive town. There's a centre with big supermarkets 10 mins drive. Owners were very helpful. The house is away from the road in semi rural surroundings, in the middle of the owners vineyard. (They very kindly gave us a bottle of their wine. ) The wifi is a bit hit & miss. It's within striking distance of plenty of attractions - don't miss going up Etna - expensive 63 euros pp, but well worth it. It's also very pleasant to just sit on the terrace or in the garden & relax. We really enjoyed our stay & would definitely recommend it ##### Phil C. The house is very cozy and warm, well equipped and clean, a lot of space for the two of us, offers calmness and an overwhelming view to the Etna Mountain. The hosting family is very nice and offers any support needed, even welcomed us with own wine and a delicious cake. Our trips to the Etna have been very special due to the snow that fell heavily and we enjoyed the days out in the nature and coming home into the warmth. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich und zuverlässig. Das kleine Häuschen scheint ziemlich neu zu sein, alles ist sehr sauber und es fehlt an nichts. (Wärmere Bettdecke für kalte Tage, extra Kissen,ausreichend Handtücher...)Sogar Küchengewürze, Salz ,Zucker und Essig etc waren vorhanden sowie eine Flasche Wein aus eigenem Anbau als Begrüssungstrunk. Die gesamte Anlage ist sehr gepflegt und bietet neben dem Swimming Pool mit Ätna Blick auch eine beschattete Liegewiese mit tollem Ausblick. Parkplätze sind auf dem Grundstück vorhanden, es ist herrlich ruhig ,trotzdem sind es nur wenige Minuten zum Ort Viagrande,wo es nette Restaurants und Läden hat. Zum Ätna gelangt man in ca 40 Minuten,Catania ist nah, Taormina bezaubernd....... Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen und können diese Unterkunft nur weiterempfehlen! ##### Manuela D. We had a great stay in Dietroserra and the accommodation exceeded our expectations. To come home after a hot day in a city or on a beach it should welcome you and Dietroserra does this very well. Located in the middle of a couple of wine fields you drive your car up to your house, two flights of stairs and your are standing on your terrace. Another flight of stairs besides the house brings you up to the (shared) garden with a BBQ and a refreshing swimming pool. In the garden there are stretchers available for your leisure with enough shadow and a grand view to the ever smoking Etna. The house consists of a 2 person bedroom and bathroom with a large sink, shower, toilet and a bidet. Further there is a washing room with a washing machine. The main living room has on one side the kitchen and on the other side a sofa which can be folded out to provide a two person bed. In the middle of the living room there is a TV and a big table for four persons. If you like Italian TV you are in for a treat because the TV has hundreds of Italian channels. Like we already mentioned the house was well equipped. Already provided were towels, toilet paper, shampoo, soap, washing powder, bed linen, garbage bin sacks, kitchen rolls, basic herbs, olive oil and some nice cold drinks in the fridge. We especially liked the Sicilian almond milk. So basically you'll survive if you didn't bring anything and landed on a Sunday. :) The next supermarket can be reached in 4 minutes by car, the Etna cabin lift starting point (Refugio Sapienza, be there at 8:30 for the guided tour to the very top, no reservations) in 40 minutes, a nice and relatively quiet beach south of Catania can be reached in 40 minutes. A couple of shopping malls are 15 minutes away and if you want something bigger you can go to Etnapolis (35 minutes) which also has a waterpark (Etnaland) close by. Recommended visits are: Siracusa (1 hour), Noto (80 min.), Taormina (45 min.). If you like cold mountain water there is Gola d'Alcantara, close to Taormina. Go down with the elevator and walk some distance to the left, there you'll have a bit more space/peace. Anyway, Dietroserra is a great base of operations for your stay in east of Sicily. Highly recommended!
