However, even at that the room was below average. The fan and air conditioner both need upgrading and the cover felt as though it had not been washed in years. We had to ask for an extra sheet for between our bodies and the cover. When I mentioned to my friends who have resided in Varanasi for many years what I payed for this room, they were skeptical, claiming that I could probably find the same standard for half as much, however in my experience this hotel was certainly quite good compared to the others I've experienced in Varanasi. The room was exactly as pictured online, was very clean, and there was backup power. The only minor snag was that for some reason for the second night of my stay the email they received showed it as a standard room, whereas I had re-booked the exact same 'super deluxe' room as the first night, and I showed them my voucher on my laptop to prove it and thought the matter was settled, but when I was checking out there was some additional charge listed and I had to again remind them of the discrepancy.
