It possesses a stylish and magic atmosphere, radiates peace and harmony, and is also very practically furnished. The house is situated in a detached and quiet position at the edge of the ancient mountain village of Orasso, 200 m behind the village entry and on the narrow street to the church with its 800 years old bell-tower. In front of the house door, you can seat in comfortable garden chairs on the shaded terrace with a wine pergola, but also on the roofed balcony at the other side of the house. From both places you have the view to the opposite Monte Riga, but also down and up the valley to the mountain panorama of the National Park Val Grande, the largest wilderness area of Italy and the Alps. We can send you also the very detailed leaflet of the house. The Cannobina Valley (Val Cannobina):: Orasso is the most ancient village in the Cannobina Valley which is pulled through by a narrow and little travelled road having branches to the mountain villages scattered on the slopes. From the holiday house, you can start walking in all directions on well-signed and maintained footpaths. In particular, you can reach a romantically sited and sunny bathing place at the Orasso brook in almost 20 minutes by foot which is a small alternative to the Lake Maggiore. But upside the village, you arrive at a beautiful alpine pasture, where as a special attraction you find a giant swing mediating the feeling of floating in the skies. By foot or short drives, you will reach many other romantic places, villages and footpaths, especially mountain paths to steep rock walls and magnificent peaks. History and traditions of the formerly dense-populated valley can be studied in the Ethnographic Museum of Gurro, on boards along the footpaths, or via several Italian books in the house (with many photos). The Lake Maggiore:: You reach Lake Maggiore along the small valley road, 15 km from 700 to 200m in height. The road leads to the little and charming town of Cannobio, some kilometres south from the Swiss border. Here in the northwest, the Lake has its best water quality, and on the well-maintained beach you find sunny places with sands, as well as shadowy places on the meadows between trees. The long beach promenade with many restaurants and views is also one of the nicest all along the Lake. With the steamer you can visit all other charming places along the lake (in particular of course, the beautiful Borromeo Islands near Stresa). On Sunday morning it’s worthwhile to visit the large flea-market in Cannobio, but the city invites for shopping and resting all over the day. Surely it is also worthwhile to visit the Swiss towns of Locarno and Ascona. In Locarno there is also the international exhibition of camellia (the time of most intensive blossom of camellia and magnolia is between March and April). Val Vigezzo and Val Grande:: 10 km in western direction from Orasso via Finero, the highest village of the Cannobina Valley, you arrive at the Val Vigezzo, the “Valley of painters”. It’s a less tourist region compared to the Lake Maggiore but you find nice small towns like Malesco and Santa Maria Maggiore, as well as very comfortable footpaths along the rather broad valley (there is a description of 12 excursions in the holyday home). A special attraction offers the narrow-gauge railway winding itself along the slopes of the Vigezzo valley and the adjacent Swiss Centovalli from Domodossola to Locarno. But if you are searching for complete loneliness, you can start from Finero or Malesco for a several day’s excursion within the Val Grande, the biggest wilderness in Italy and the Alps. For overnight stays you find primitive huts without food supply (“rifugio”). It fits perfectly the feel of the village and we felt privileged to stay there. The bed is big and comfortable, the kitchen and bathroom compact but practical. You feel at home from the moment you arrive. The balcony is perfect for breakfast, the terrace marvellous for dinner, and the location just magical. Das vorhandene Kartenmaterial und die Literatur zur Umgebung ist sehr umfangreich und informativ. Wir haben uns im Haus sofort sehr wohl gefühlt. Den Sonnenplatz auf dem Balkon haben wir sehr genossen. Die Wanderwege in der näheren Umgebung bieten tolle Naturerfahrungen. Man sollte eine gewisse Fitness und Trittfestigkeit mitbringen. In Orasso gibt es ein kleines Hotel, in dem auch ein/e Café/Bar vorhanden ist und einen kleinen Supermarkt. Im Ort ist es angenehm ruhig. Von dort kann direkt los gewandert werden. Mit dem Auto haben wir etwa 25 Minuten nach Cannobio gebraucht. Wir haben unsere Auszeit sehr genossen! ##### Kerrin E. Die Angaben und Bilder des Objekts waren genau zutreffend. Das Essen auf dem Balkon mit Blick ins Tal und auf die Berge bleibt ein unvergesslicher Eindruck. An die kurvenreiche Anfahrt von Cannobio nach Orasso und an das Abstellen des Autos am Ortseingang haben wir uns schnell gewöhnt. Die vielen Wandermöglich-keiten direkt vom Ort und der näheren Umgebung aus kamen uns sehr entgegen. Wir kommen gerne wieder. ##### Klaus B. Ansonsten ist es ein altes Steinhaus, das liebevoll und sorgfältig renoviert und eingerichtet wurde, die Fotos geben ja einen guten Eindruck, es ist aber noch viel schöner. Hervorzuheben ist neben der gut ausgestatteten Küche und dem Balkon mit großartigem Ausblick auch die überaus detaillierte Bibliothek mit Wanderführern, Karten und Literatur über die Region. Die Lage eignet sich vor allem für zwei Tätigkeiten: Wandern und Ruhe finden. Dass es gut funktionierendes WLAN gibt, ist trotzdem vorteilhaft. Leider hatten wir Pech und die ganze Woche dicke Wolken und Regen, dafür umso schöner in der Casa Monte Riga sich wie zuhause zu fühlen ! Urgemütlich in der "Casa Ihle" und man kann Ewigkeiten dort verweilen und sich dem Selbststudium per Sprachführer, allerlei Reiseführer und Unternehmungsmaterial oder aber den ausführlichen Bildbänden des Cannobinertals widmen ! Der Fernseher war völlig überflüssig , Netzverbindung ließ uns auch hängen und so war es herrlich dem eifrigen Kuckuck immer wieder zu lauschen, den emsigen Schwalbeneltern bei der Versorgung ihrer nimmersatten Jungen zuzuschauen , den peinlich sauberen Ort mit Schirm staunend zu erkunden, den Nachbarn beim Frühstück auf dem Balkon zuzuwinken , von den Glockenschlägen der Campanile ( Orasso und Spocchia die Uhrzeit zu erfahren! Wir haben wie die Murmeltiere geschlafen im völlig gemütlichen Schlafzimmer und noch gemütlicherem Bett! Wir haben Ende Oktobe 2013 eine Woche in dem Haus verbracht. Vorher hatten wir telefonisch und per Mail Kontakt zu dem sehr netten, freundlichen Vermieter, welcher in allen Belangen sehr hilfsbereit war. Das Haus ist sehr liebevoll renoviert und eingerichtet. Es ist alles vorhanden was benötigt wird. Auch eine umfangreiche und interssante Buchsammlung für regnerische Tage, sowie auch Musik CDs. Dank dieser haben wir uns nach dem Urlaub gleich Andrea Bocelli CDs gekauft :-) Wanderkarten sind auch vorhanden, gut für die Planungen für Touren im Valle Cannobio sowie auch für andere Wandergebiete in der Umgebung. Die Küche ist hervorragend ausgestattet, wir haben fast jeden Abend frisch gekocht. Die ruhigen Abende haben wir dann vor dem wärmenden Kaminfeuer und einem Glas guten Wein mit einem Buch aus der hauseigenen Bibliothek genossen. Oder uns (dann weniger ruhige Abende) mit dem vorhandenen "Mensch ärgere dich nicht" Spiel duelliert. Das Auto parkt man wie üblich in den Bergdörfen am Ortseingang, und läuft dann zu Fuss durch die schmalen Gassen von Orasso, höchstens drei,vier Minuten zum Haus. Am Ortseingang gibt es ein Bar-Restaurant. Über die Speisen können wir nichts berichten,aber der Espresso war sehr lecker. Ebenfalls gibt es gleich dort einen kleinen Einkaufsladen, morgens und spätnachmittags geöffnet. Vom Haus selber kann man mehrere verschiedene Wandertouren starten, andere Ausgangspunkte im Valle Cannobio sind dank der günstigen Lage Orassos schnell erreicht. Nach Cannobio ist es eine gute halbe Autostunde, auch den Val Grande erreicht man in dieser Zeit das Tal weiter aufwärts. Uns fasziniert immer wieder die Einsamkeit und Ruhe beim Wandern dort, besonders in dieser Jahreszeit ist natürlich nicht mehr viel los. Auf manchen Touren haben wir nicht einen Menschen getroffen. Alles in allem haben wir uns hervorragend erholt. Es hat uns so gut gefallen in dem Häuschen, daß wir ganz sicher noch einmal einen Urlaub dort verbringen werden, versprochen !! Die ruhige Lage, das gemütliche Häuschen, übrigens wunderschöner unverbauter Blick vom Balkon ins Tal und auf die gegenüberliegende Bergkuppe, alles traumhaft ! Für Wanderer, Naturliebhaber und Ruhesuchende oder auch nur zum Seele baumeln lassen und Entspannen ist dies der perfekte Ort .....! ##### Marcel K. Vorallem wenn man Ruhe sucht und von der Hektik des Alltages abschalten will, kann ich diese Ferienwohnung sehr empfehlen.
