Find hotels in Twin Bay from £54

The best areas to stay in Twin Bay are the Waterfront District and the Northwood area, both offering distinct advantages for travellers.

The Waterfront District is Twin Bay's central hub, stretching along the shores of Lake Superior. It's easily walkable, with hotels, restaurants, and shops lining Marina Park Drive and surrounding areas. This district is home to the city's main marina, providing stunning lake views and access to boat tours. It's also where you'll find the Terry Fox Monument, a significant landmark.

Couples often find the Waterfront District ideal for a romantic getaway. The scenic boardwalks, lakeside dining options, and proximity to attractions like the Thunder Bay Art Gallery make it superb for leisurely strolls and evenings out. Many hotels here offer rooms with lake views, adding to the experience.

For families, the Northwood area offers a more relaxed and spacious setting. This neighbourhood is situated slightly inland from the lake, offering a quieter residential feel with easy access to larger parks and recreational facilities. It's well-connected by main roads, making it convenient for exploring the wider Twin Bay area and its natural surroundings.

Families appreciate Northwood for its larger hotels, which often feature amenities suited for children, such as indoor swimming pools. The area is also close to attractions like the Fort William Historical Park, offering an educational and engaging day out for all ages.

For most visitors seeking pleasant weather for outdoor activities, the best time to visit Twin Bay is during the summer months, from June to August.

During this period, the weather is typically warm and sunny, with average temperatures ranging from 20°C to 25°C. This makes it ideal for exploring the city's waterfront, hiking in the nearby Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, or enjoying boat trips on Lake Superior. The longer daylight hours also allow for more extensive sightseeing.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will find early autumn, particularly September, a wonderful time to visit. The crowds thin out, and the surrounding forests display stunning fall foliage. The cooler, crisp air is great for scenic drives along the coast or enjoying a quiet evening at one of the city's fine dining establishments.

Families travelling with children will appreciate the summer months, as many local attractions and parks are fully operational, and there are often festivals and events geared towards families.
