Shadowland River Lodge on Boardman River - Pet Friendly - Acreage - Private

  • Shadowland River Lodge is located approx. 12 miles South East of downtown Traverse City. It is nestled on 33 acres of private land with 650 feet of frontage along the Boardman River. The original log home structure was built in 1929 and in later years added on to including a kitchen, dining area, full bathroom, walk-in closet, utility room, and a riverside main bedroom.

    Shadowland River Lodge currently sleeps up to 6 guests with a queen bed in the one ā€œ conventional ā€œ bedroom with direct river views. (red bedspread) A set of ā€œtwinā€ size bunk beds are in the main room (red checkered) of the cabin structure along with a ā€œdoubleā€ size futon. (Cream w/ multi-color stripes)

    The property has become a retreat for those looking to be a little off the beaten path of the busy hustle and bustle of Traverse City. Step back in time and enjoy the privacy and sense of nature that envelops this log home along the Boardman River. Also enjoy endless amounts of free firewood for use inside and out!

    We are dog friendly - this means all dogs! (Sorry, we only allow dogs, no cats, etc.) There is no size limit. We love to have guests experience Shadowland River Lodge with their K9 family members! We see no need to charge a pet fee, so there isnā€™t one!

Once again, we loved our stay at Shadowland River Lodge. We had a wonderfully snowy weekend made cozy by the fire reading and playing games while looking out at the beautiful river views and relaxing in the hot tub after cross country skiing nearby. Well appointed cabin with a private setting and so much charm! Weā€™ll be back!

Everything was perfect. All the little touches make a huge difference. Hot tub was amazing. Whole experience was comfy and very cozy. Shadowland River Lodge exceeded our expectations. The pictures don't quite capture how truly special the entire property is. We were reminded of our stay at the Lake Placid Lodge. Lovely stay again. It is so obvious how much pride Jason and Nicole have in sharing this remarkable cabin. Hot tub is a great addition and each year gets better and our trip gets longer. Cabin has all you can ask for and amenities you donā€™t expect, paper goods, soap, toiletries, trash bags, laundry detergent. They have it all covered. Andā€¦the river.. so peaceful and relaxing. You feel as though youā€™ve left it all behind. Iā€™ve never seen my dog and husband so happy!

Hello Fellow Travelers. Unless you have like major issues or something you will Love this place. There is a calm and comfort here that's hard to find. Loaded with stuff. You only need to bring clothes and what you want to eat. There was popcorn and coffee too. And "all the wood you can burn". Be assured of that. Fun and lots of it. Even had educational things like Game of Thrones. I learned a lot when I was there. The Netflix channel is 302.

Another Perfect Fall Getaway! Just returned from my 5th year in a row at Shadowland River Lodge and as usual, it was the perfect experience! Jason and Nicole are the absolute best hosts, and this year, the new hot tub just added to the total relaxation and zen of the property. We ventured out this year to do wine tastings on both peninsulas as well as one of the local cruises on the water to enjoy the beautiful October scenery. The best part of venturing out during the day is returning to the house in the evening for the hot tub, fire pit and cozy fireplace in the living room. My dogs seem to sense when we are close by on the drive in every year and start howling in the car with delight. The feeling of peace and relaxation keep me coming back every year! Thank you again Jason & Nicole for your warm hospitality. Looking forward to returning next year, already!

Getaway was Perfect

This was our third time at Shadowland. It was another incredible vacation that went all too quickly. Jason the host was perfect and we loved our stay. The kitchen is a great delight...everything we could want to cook up a tasty meal. The grounds are so beautiful and spending time by the river with our new adopted dog was so special. The hosts were responsive and made us feel like welcome from the very start.

Perfect place for fall getaway

Shadowland River Lodge has the perfect rustic charm with all the amenities to make our stay with a 6 month old and dog very relaxing. I honestly don't think that pictures do the setting justice, it's the idyllic scene of cabin on a wooded river. Jason and Nicole have put a lot of thought and care into this place and they were excellent to communicate with. We hope to stay again soon!

Fantastic Family Meetup in the land of Turquoise Waters

Our families met up with two kids and two dogs to check out Sleeping Dunes National Lakeshore and the area, we found this to be cozy, cute and comfortable; perfect for what we needed. It was clean, comfortable furniture and beds and has everything you need to cook at home. Well stocked with indoor and outdoor games. The hosts were wonderful. We loved the hot tub, the giant fireplace and the river view! This is a gorgeous private forest getaway and we all would highly recommend it. We will be back!

Outstanding Hospitality

We recently stayed at Shadowland Lodge and loved its perfect locationā€”close to Traverse City but far enough to escape the congestion. The lodge is nestled in a serene setting, offering a peaceful retreat with easy access to the city's attractions. We enjoyed fishing and, since we pulled our boat, the propertyā€™s circle drive made it convenient. The cabin was clean and comfortable, and Jason and Nicole were friendly and helpful. A great spot for a relaxing getaway!

Peaceful retreat

This was our second stay at Shadowland. We love the tranquil setting and classic cabin feel. We really enjoyed relaxing by the huge fire as autumn descended this week. Jason is so responsive but we really had everything we needed for a fun, relaxing weekend away. Thanks for another wonderful stay!
